PLOT ;

The thought is unfathomable; two families, different in every way conceivable, have their fates intertwined with one simple mistake. Their children, two girls who look uncannily alike, switched at their births. Growing up in the wrong house, family, and customs. They always looked different than the rest of the family, always seemed so out of place, but nobody thought more of it than the occasional response of "It must be an old, recessive gene."

At sixteen years of age, Ms. Anselmo is genuinely concerned with the nature of her abnormal features, compared to her family at least. She decides to talk with a local genealogist, common in the midst of science-obsessed District 6, and get some results. With hairs from both her mother and father (snatched from the tangles of their hairbrushes) and her own head, she sends in the strands of hair to the genealogy lab, and what the lab results report back is inconceivable: Her mother and father are not hers.

The lab report promised to help her find her real family, but that it would be best to keep this from her family until they had everything settled and confirmed. In this stretch of time, Ms. Anselmo must deal with the fact that everything she has ever known, is not her. Several weeks later, the lab contacts Ms. Anselmo again, stating that they had tracked down the other family, and that they had been informed of the situation. They had sent in DNA samples, and it had been confirmed that the daughter of that family was not related, either.

The lab provides a meetup session for the two families, hoping that a face-to-face meeting would release some of the tension floating around and also answer at least a portion of the millions of questions and thoughts flying around through everyone's minds. They arrive, tight, awkward smiles are exchanged, and Ms. Anselmo exchanges greetings with the other daughter. The other daughter turns to Ms. Anselmo, slowly and gently; cataracts cover both eyes, turning the beautiful blue to a milky, dull colour: she is blind.

Everything up to this point has been shattered, destroyed into oblivion. All aspects of life will now have to be rebuilt, from the ground up. And how easy is that, when it seems that everybody is only trying to dismantle it again?


THE CHARACTERS ;

THE ANSELMO FAMILY
Daughter [switched daughter, not related by blood] [played by ----] Sixteen years old. Very much artistic, loves to paint and create. Sassy, quick to respond with a snarky remark and somewhat truculent. Used to getting what she wants, moody and emotional when she doesn't. Very passionate in what she does, and will not stop until it is completed.

Brother [played by ----] Eighteen years old. Very musical, can constantly be found singing and making music. Somewhat of a pushover, gets dragged into things he doesn't want to be involved in. A little more responsible than his "sister."

THE LAYTON FAMILY
Daughter [switched daughter, not related by blood] [played by ----] Sixteen years old. Blind. Loves music, loves to cook. Quiet, shy, but kind and sweet when you take time to get to know her.
Sister [played by ----] Seventeen years old. Reclusive, untrusting, and quiet. Enjoys art and reading. Dedicated and determined, but usually has to work for what she has, it's not given to her.

OTHERS
Friend of Layton Daughter [played by PIKA] Boy, seventeen years old. Grew up with Layton daughter, and is her best friend. Quiet, truculent, and quick to assume. Funny, smart, and kind when befriended. Doesn't mix with people well.


FAMILY HISTORIES ;

THE ANSELMO FAMILY: The Anselmo family is rich and well-off. With both parents ranked high in the laboratories in District Six, this family has money to spare. They are usually not too snobby about it, but there are times where they forget how lucky they are. Both parents work long, labouring hours, and don't get home until later on in the evening. The conversations in the family are almost always the same, about work, school, or simple things. Secrets are easy to keep, and emotions are easy to hide.

THE LAYTON FAMILY: The Layton family, on the other hand, is quite poor. They make enough to survive and get by, but there is no room for monetary mistakes or free spending. With the mother a struggling single parent, she works constantly and rarely has time for her children. The father left when the girls were young, and never made an effort to rekindle his relationsip with them. The mother has never truly let go of him, though.


OTHER THINGS ;

I took the basic idea of this plot from the ABC Family show "Switched at Birth." There are a few differences, but for the most part it stays true to the plot of the show.

Right now, I'm only considering RPing with the young ones of the families. But, if I get enough applications and interest, I will consider allowing some people to create the parents, and perhaps some other minor characters, if you can create a personality for me.

I'd really like to see a possible romance between the Layton sister and the Anselmo brother. I think that might be fun, but only if the other writer is up to it.

In the show, the friend of the Layton daughter has a sort of love triangle situation with both switched daughters. Whether or not they decide to focus on one side of it more than the other, or both equally, is fine by me, but it would be fun to see that aspect involved.

I'm allowing you to choose your first and middle names. I would like all personality traits introduced in your bios, but you are more than welcome to add more traits and aspects if you would like to go above and beyond.

I'll be picking spots based on activity level, post quality, and dedication to the plot based on the app. I'm not asking for a daily post here, but I am looking for about once a week. I'm looking for medium to advanced writers, writers who know what I'm looking for in this plot and are able to produce good, quality posts.
