The Puppetmasters
Distant flickering, it's greener scenery.
This weather's bringing it all back again.
Great adventures, faces in condensation.
I'm going outside to take it all in.
There are some nights when she wakes up screaming because she thinks she's all alone. He's too busy looking back over his shoulder to see the danger ahead. She's lost in a fairytale that will never come true. His sister hates him because he's too protective. The Keepers are always catching her getting into some sort of trouble. None of his jokes are funny but he keeps them together somehow. She's got her secrets and rarely talks. He tries to act strong but he's falling apart on the inside.
People in the district tend to avoid them- misfits, strangers, freaks. But they don't need the world's approval- they have each other, and that's how they make it work. They keep each others' insanity at bay, at least for a little while. They don't really have an official name, but many in the district know them by their trade.
They are the Puppetmasters.
( The Puppetmaster plot will take place in District Seven. It focuses on a group of teenagers who put on puppet shows for a profit, entertaining some of the younger children. Expect friendship, romance, betrayal, and suspense in this plot. ^^ )
The Puppeteer ( 16 / Female / Stare ) - She pulls the strings and makes the puppets dance, gives them their voices and their movement and their life. She loves the laughter of the children when she makes the tales come to life. Autophobia haunts the poor girl day and night, but she's determined to pull through. Her parents are rich, and they love her, but they can't seem to understand her. She's strange and different in a way they never were, so they usually just leave her alone.
The Carver ( 16 / Male / Danny ) - He turns the dead wood into forms, motionless and brainless and heartless but still harboring much potential. He is the first step in making them real. He likes to think himself important despite the fact that his parents are always telling him otherwise. A rough past causes him to be wary, and it makes him blind to the present. He'll admit that he's had a crush on the Puppeteer ever since he met her, but he's never been bold enough to act on it.
The Writer ( 16 / Female / Lulu ) - The heart of the group, it's hard to pull this girl back into reality. She's always been a daydreamer, ever since she was old enough to think, and that is why she writes the scripts that make the children laugh and gasp and close their eyes. She has an imagination as fresh as that of a child, an optimism unmatched by anyone else her age, her heart still young and free. Her parents often worry about her. Someday, they fear, her innocent disposition will get her into trouble.
The Woodcutter ( 17 / Male / Cass ) - He is the true beginning of the process. Skilled with an ax, he cuts down the wood from which the puppets are made. His main purpose is to cut down trees for the Capitol, but he always saves some wood for his close friend, the Carver. He is determined, working long and hard in order to support his struggling family, and he refuses to accept any charity. His younger sister, The Seamstress, hates him because he is so protective of her- he doesn't like letting her out of his sight, and loves her dearly despite how harsh she is toward him.
The Seamstress ( 14 / Female / Sarella ) - The youngest of the group, she is in charge of clothing the puppets. It is hard to believe that such a fierce girl is so good at such a thing as sewing, but it seems to calm her. She is rebellious, always causing mischief and driving the Keepers insane with her trouble making. Sometimes the others think she does it simply to anger her brother, who she seems to despise. Really, she loves The Woodcutter, but she hates the way he confines her and treats her as if she is just a child.
The Stagehand ( 17 / Male / Pika ) - [/b]He brings the setting to life rather than the characters. While the things he creates are always in the background, he certainly isn't. He thinks himself a natural comedian, when in reality none of his jokes are very funny. He likes to be the center of attention, and is always trying to impress the rest of the group. He has a small crush on The Writer and doesn't really work hard to keep his feelings a secret, as he is always flirting with her. The newest to the group, it seems like he's always trying to prove himself. He's the glue in the group- he keeps everyone together when they fight and drains the seriousness out of the mood.[/color]
The Designer ( 18 / Female / South ) - She's the one who plans ahead, bringing the characters to life on paper rather than in wood. She designs all of the puppets and sets, meaning she works closely with The Stagehand and The Carver. She's quiet and reserved, harboring secrets she refuses to tell and fleeing a conversation when it gets too personal. The others know she has a family, but they've never met them and they don't know much about her past. Many of her drawings outside of the designs cause them to think that perhaps she is a bit of a tortured soul, though she hides those sketches as soon as she sees someone is looking.
The Painter ( 16 / Male / Nofo ) - He is an artist, but his tool is not the knife, like The Carver, nor the pencil, like The Designer. No, his is the paintbrush as he gives the puppets faces and eyes and hair, making them as human as they'll ever be. He's the strength of the group, protecting The Seamstress from the Keepers and keeping The Writer out of trouble and being a friend to The Designer despite her being so quiet. He's a friend to all of them, really, there when they need him. But troubles at home cause him to be weak and uncertain on the inside. His strength can't last forever. Sooner or later, he'll completely fall apart.
REMINDER: Bios are due Monday, May 14th.
Been walking, you've been hiding,
And you look half dead half the time.
Monitoring you, like machines do,
You still got it I'm just keeping an eye.
