Laura sat down in her small house. Peace and tranquility, if only for a few minutes. She was wearing her normal clothes, her tank top, her jacket and her light trousers. She started planning a schedule in her mind. She would have to go help harvest the corn later and then she would have to- her thoughts were interrupted, by her younger sister, Adelaide. "Laura, my tummy hurts."
This happened a lot of the time. It was her way of saying "I'm hungry, feed me as soon as possible please."
"I think there might be some bread in here..." I sighed. That was my bread I was saving for Friday. But she was my sister.
"Thanks Laura, you're the best." she hugged me, then walked into the other room.
"Where did you get that bread? Why couldn't we have some?" now my twin siblings, Bella and Brandon walked in.
"It's none of your buisiness." I said, but poked their noses playfully. They giggled, but then persisted once more.
"You gotta tell us or we annoy you for...for the rest of the DAY!" said Brandon.
"No, week." smirked Bella.
"Okay, I honestly don't care." I lied. But I do. They can be so irritating when they want to. They hide my stuff on me and everything.
I got the bread because someone dropped it. I washed it and everything. I took it quietly. But I didn't want any of my siblings wandering around, looking under people's legs for food that could possibly fall out randomly. What would they think of them? Especially at such a young age, too. I'm quiet and swift. But they're clumsy and slow.
And they mimick me too. Sometimes the s word slips out of my mouth while I make a mistake. Now they copy. They drop their things and say it. Then they smile and walk away.
I'm not just talking about the twins. The little ones do it too. Even Renée, who's 4, is saying it. So I try not to say that word now but it's a hard habit to break. And now that they've started saying it it'll be a hard habit for THEM to break.
Suddenly I hear noises. I shoo the twins away and rise from my seat.
