[/size]I stalk through the tavern, brandishing my broom like a sword. It’s midday and the place is completely void of costumers, so for the moment I am hunting dust bunnies. So far, I have vanquished most of their horde, but there are still a few stragglers that lurk under table legs, and in the spaces between the floorboards. I am determined to see to all of their deaths myself.
I spot one; its fuzzy butt sticking out in a beam of cursed sunlight, while the rest of it was obscured in inky shadows. It’s a big one, probably leader to the dusty villains. In killing him, I could permanently end their foolish invasion.
I place my feet carefully, slowly. Wouldn’t want to alert it to my presence, as I knew it would be gone in a flash if it saw me coming… Closer and closer I creep, my tongue stuck between my teeth in a look of concentration. I hold the broom high above my head with two hands, ready to swing it down upon the vile creature like a great battle axe to cleave it in half.
I swing…
And smash the creature. I yell out a shout of victory, and throw a fist in the air. “I got you, oh great one! Let’s try to see your army recover now!” I dance around, using my broom/weapon as a dance partner. I hear a chuckle, and whirl around to face a rather handsome boy sitting on one of the barstools. He was leaning his back against the bar to face me, blue eyes where alight with amusement, and lips stretched into a smile. I had no idea how long he had been sitting there, or how he had even gotten in without me noticing him.
I put the broom behind my back, as if hiding it would make him forget what he saw. I blush furiously, and nervously play with my hair. “Um, may I help you?” I squeak. His grin gets wider, but it isn’t cruel. It’s a smile that says we are friends, and we are laughing at a good joke. “You fighting off an insurgent group of bugs?” He asks brightly, and jumps off the stool to approach me. I beam at his joke. “Nope, a horde of dust bunnies. I just got their leader.” I explain. He laughs merrily, his blue eyes sparkle. “My name is Jason.” He holds out a hand, and I reach forward and take it with mine. “Liselotte.” I meet his grin with a grin of my own.
“May I help you with something?” I ask warmly. He takes the hand I just released and runs it through his hair. “Oh no, I’m fine. I just came in here to warm up, y’know?” He casts a glance outside. He looked a bit nervous, but I don’t know him well enough to read his expressions.
