Hello all, and welcome to the official thread for our third THGRPG staff search!
We feel that the site is growing considerably, and will hopefully grow even more when we unveil the coming rebellion plot, but there are less and less active staff members to help control the madness. Sadly two of our staff are leaving us, which is why we're holding another search. We'd like to find active, kind members who really love the site and want to make a difference in it to come forward and apply.
Now I know many of our older members have heard what I'm about to say before; perhaps, if you've been here for really long you've heard it twice, but let me just say it again for our newer people.
Being a staff member is not all fun and games. It's work.
Sure, we want you to have fun if you're on the staff, because we all do. The staff is like one small family inside our huge family of roleplayers. You'll have access to our private board, have a pretty colored name, and even have your own 'desk' (sub board) to keep all your files and what-not, as well as for answering members' questions. It's fun to be staff. But on the other hand, it's hard work. You'll have a lot of responsibilities, no matter what position you acquire. You'll have to be active, because we've had to eliminate staff members due to inactivity more than once. You'll have to set a good example, which means being courteous to everyone, no matter how much they might annoy you. And of course, you'll have to perform your duties masterfully, whether it be accepting characters, moderating RP posts, or anything else.
But back to business. Now, for those of you I've not yet scared off, it's time to get down to the specifics.
Just to clarify, Aya will be moved up to Global Moderator, but she'll still have her coding responsibilities. Thundy will be promoted to Moderator, and the Member Relations position will be eliminated. So in this staff search, we'll be looking for one Moderator and one Librarian. Here's a breakdown of both positions.
Librarian- (copied from prior staff search)
Duties:
-Cataloging (i.e. making lists, keeping records, etc.)
-Updating character directory. (The rest of the staff will help with that occasionally, but it will mainly be work for the librarian)
-Accepting characters, a duty all staff members now have.
Qualities:
-Organized. This is a must. We want to be able to count on a librarian to keep everything in order.
-Good with lists.
-Consistency, because the librarian will have to update the Character Directory on a regular basis.
-Activity, because again, updating character directory must be done regularly.
I'd also like if the person knew very basic JavaScript and had some minimal HTML skill, that way there's less explaining for me to do later. If not, it's not a big deal, though. -Aya
Moderator-
Duties:
-Moderating RP posts (this includes watching out for powerplaying, double posting, god modding, and any other RP rule violations)
-Moderating regular posts (make sure everyone's following the forum rules)
-Accepting characters.
-Anything else I assign them to do. This could be anything from posting announcements to running certain parts of the plot, so be prepared.
Qualities:
-Activity. This is a must.
-Patience and tolerance of all members.
-A strong knowledge of RPing and site rules.
-Some sense of authority, because you'll most likely have to deal with rule breaking members.
-RP skill.
Hopefully you all understood that, if not, don't hesitate to speak up. Now here's what you need to apply.
Application form:
Please post all applications in this thread.
And that's basically it. You are all encouraged to apply, even if you're unsure of yourself. Might as well give it a shot, eh?
Any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to PM, email, or contact me in any other way that works for you. I'm happy to help.
Thank you all! We hope to see your applications, and best of luck!
