SOME NIGHTS I CAN'T STOP SCREAMING! MATT'S ALBUM PLOT, HEYYYY. DOING THE SOUTH AND THERE IS ONE PERSONALITY TRAIT THINGER FOR EVERY SONG ON THE ALBUM, INCLUDING THE ~*BONUS*~ SONGS.
As a whole, he's a flashy guy with emphasis on outward appearance, but not a lot is going on the same inwardly. He seems peppy and outgoing, but internally he's a train wreck hooked on alcohol and nicotine.
Some Nights Intro -- Disconnection, loss of grip, fear. Basically, he has no idea what he wants anymore. Some nights he hates himself so much that he doesn't want anyone to see him, other nights he hates himself so much that he's afraid to be alone with himself."Cos there are some nights I hold you close, pushing you to hold me/Or begging you to lock me up, never let me see the world"
Some Nights -- Disillusioned, disenchanted, doesn't know what he wants. He's one hundred percent certain that there is no one out there that really understands him."That is it, guys, that is all - five minutes in and I'm bored again/Ten years of this, I'm not sure if anybody understands"
We Are Young -- Cynical, bitter, and altogether hopeless, a free runner, doesn't stop running unless he has to. Also a reference to his many vices and addictions."So if by the time the bar closes/And you feel like falling down, I'll carry you home/Tonight, we are young/So let's set the world on fire/We can burn brighter than the sun"
Carry On -- Determination, hopeless determination to just keep slugging on until he hits a brick wall. Also a reference to his inability to deal with his past at all."If you're lost and alone
Or you're sinking like a stone/Carry on/May your past be the sound/Of your feet upon the ground/Carry on"
It Gets Better -- Basically a man slut not by his choice, but hey it does get better, his lack of innocence."Like starlight crashing through the room/We'll lose our feathers/Yes, I know it hurts at first/But it gets better"
Why Am I the One -- Tired, sense of defeat, acceptance, overthinker, inability to be happy with his standing in life. Hates to actually spend too much time thinking. He'd rather just jump into things."I've got enough on my mind/That when she pulls me by the hand/She hasn't much to hold onto"
All Alone -- vapid or empty, like a pretty, lifeless doll, doesn't let people see the kraken that's hidden underneath. He appears to be a very happy young man, albeit mysterious, but he just really isn't."And I feel so all alone/No one's gonna fix me when I'm broke/How do you cry with inanimate eyes?/You're never gonna smile with the way that you are"
All Alright -- Complete hopelessness about everything, has given completely up but pretends that he's 100% a ok. He can survive as his heart falls to pieces, with a smile on his face."And it's all alright,/I guess it's all alright,/I got nothing left inside of my chest,/but it's all alright."
One Foot -- A burnout, he's not looking for a long life, just a happy one, so he'll keep going until he can't. He often asks after his family, and is usually releived to learn that they are all doing alright. Even happy that his father is still alive."I put one foot in front of the other one/I don't need a new life, just a better place to die."
Stars -- Pretty much sums up his two faced depressiony wish to drink and drugs to oblivion, yet to be a normal person of society and raise 2.5 kids with a dog and a white picket fence. He loves to tell people that everything is going to be fine, even when e feels that everything is beyond hopeless."I feel like I had it all/Back before I lost it all/Now I just wait for you to talk to me/But you won't even look at me, baby/And I've been saying that you/You're always holding onto stars/I think they're better from afar/Cause no one is going to save us"
Out on the Town -- Trust issues, mostly he can't trust himself. Pretty much, there's no one to keep him warm because he won't let them. He knows he could do better, but he's afraid to. He often imagines himself going to rescue his little brother, but everytime he thinks about it, he doesn't think his brother would want him to. he has a few false hopes."And I know I could be more clever/And I know I could be more strong/But I'm waiting for the day you come/back and say/"Hey, maybe I should change my mind
I drink a lot/I'm not sure if that's new/But these days when I wake up from a night I forgot/I just wish that it never came true"
