~Ada Galloway~
Age 16
District 4
The seagulls of the beach cawed and fluttered away whenever Ada drew near. What a nice day for a walk... I really love that sea smell. Ada had thought to herself. Her hair was in long, elegant curls down her back, and although it was a dark brown color, it glinted blond streaks against the setting sun. The waves rolled up against the wet sand and licked Ada's bare feet. Wind breezed against her legs, and her t-shirt billowed in the slight wind. If only you were here to share this with me, dad. Walks like these always helped Ada unwind, and that's exactly what she needed right now.
Ada's dad had been gone on a fishing trip for a few months now, and even though it was hard for her to admit, she was worried. Ada spent most of her time convincing herself that he was coming back, and that he was okay. He always was. She plopped down on the beach shore, just enough for the waves to barely touch the tips of her toes. "Where are you dad? When are you coming back?" She bit her lip slightly. Ada usually talked to the wind like this. But only when she was isolated like so. Ada felt her emotions creep up and begin to get the better of her. Some how, she managed to pin a smile of her face. "Well, when you get back, just know, I'm right here waiting."
Ada sat and watched the sunset for a long time after that. She did this almost everyday, when the horizon was lined with a beautiful pink hue. As the sunset faded, and the wind chilled, Ada forced her feet under her, and pushed herself upward, dusting the sand off her hind legs. She turned and headed up to shack, feeling a bit tired. Ada suddenly felt her weight give way to gravity, and she plunged down to sand. Ada looked down at her knee, which started to sting slightly as she pulled it toward her. A red scrape showed up on her skin and she sighed. Ada, you really must be tired to trip over a rock that small. She sat there, trying to clean up the wound on her knee...
