I rubbed my eyes at the pale early-morning sunlight bleeding through my window. The light seemed to have my burgundy walls catch fire and it looked beautiful. I drug myself out of bed and dressed in my training wear, a tight gray tank top, black yoga-like pants, and my lace up brown boots that I adored and show that they have been worn down with love. I crept into my bathroom and did my normal early-morning duties, teeth, face, contacts, and then I tied my hair up in a high ponytail just above my ears like I usually did. I slid out of the door into my family's small kitchen. A soft voice floated to my ears,
"Going to train again?!" said my eldest sister Hailey. She had a floral robe on and was sipping a cup of coffee. I nodded without saying a word. I know she hated me going out every morning so early to train, but I had to be prepared for the reaping in a week or two. I was nervous, but confident in myself. I took a piece of bread and lazily smeared jam onto it. I ate it as I grabbed my pack with my training weapons and started down the rode to the career center.
I weaved through early morning bystanders and salesmen. I waved to a couple of my friends as I passed. Soon, I reached the tall, building. It looked cold from the outside, but bustled with activity inside. Most girls and boys in my district start training as soon as they can walk, that is what my aprents had me and my siblings do. i was the last one left young enough to be reaped, so they even put more weight on my back about training.
i set my bag down gently next to some cloth and rubber dummies, my usual station. I pulled a stick from my bag, it looked small, but when I shook it once, it became a longer stick. My trainer said they used it martial arts to fight and he told me I could make good use of it. I maintained my precise stance and started to slowly twist and turn the tick as to make sure I got the correct form. When I thought I was ready. i held the stance again. Then I swiftly did the routine over again on the dummy as fast and precise as I could. I moved my feet in complicated turns leaps, and forms as i thrust the stick at the dummy.
I stopped after i did this about five times to take a breather. I smiled at how well i started off that morning. I took my water bottle from my bag that I had filled in the water fountain and took large gulps. With my routine done. I walked over to a weight room and started to loft weights. Easily i could bench 110 pounds, so I started to move up and up on the scale. If someone was watching, I hope they were impressed.
