Hello everyone! I've recently been racking my mind for a plot to start my character off and finally thought up one that I think could work. Anyways, I'll try to explain it as best I can.
You Will Be RPing With: Sampson Farron
Other Member's RPing: Intermediate - Advanced
District: 7
Age Requested: Doesn't matter
Plot in Mind:
Everyone needs a spark of hope, right? Afterall, it is "the only thing stronger than fear." But, when it comes to the District's of Panem, hope isn't the easiest thing to hold on to. What happens when an act of mourning becomes an icon of promise that no one expected to find? A young carpenter of District 7 creates the long forgotten craft of a paper lantern as a way to celebrate the short life of her beloved sister. Seen by a few other inhabitants of the teen's district, some tracked down the creator in order to express their appreciation. They had found the small light beautiful in the realm of darkness that was the night. Even a few requested to have one lit for specific reasons, motives that needed a little extra faith in the shape of a lighted balloon. The happier causes, a blooming relationship or the birth of a child, always filled the night with a certain joy and gave the floating craft a brilliant glow. Sadder events, such as a child reaped in the Games or the end of a life (were they not the same thing?), shifted the lantern into a silent night prayer. Those nights were the darkest. Those nights, the light of the lantern never had a chance against the suffocating black.
Eventually, the knowledge of the one who released the paper lanterns was known to all. Desires for the freeing of a light for different reasons grew more numerous. It was too much to handle for one girl, leading to the recruitment of trusted friends to help with both the crafting and releasing. From one balloon to several, each star in the night sky of District 7 gained new competition with the buoyant lights.
But, same as the growing knowledge among the district's inhabitants, Peacekeepers realized something was brewing. The simple acts of releasing the lanterns did not sit well with those who were supposed to ensure order & uniformity. What would they do to get their hands on the one who was stepping past their boundaries? It was tough to predict. Those who participated in the paper lanterns understood this, keeping their faith not in the floating lights, but instead, the silence of the people. Tight lips would be necessary to keep the small hope alive. Just one person willing to snitch would put out the light that had been flickering for only a short time.
So! There we are. Hopefully everything is understood...? Anyways, if you have any questions, just let me know. I'm looking for friends that want to help Sampson, who is the leader of the group that releases the paper lanterns. I'd generally be willing to accept anyone who wants to interact with this plot, possibly a person with a reason to light one lantern or someone who believes that the lanterns will simply get their district into trouble. Be creative! I'd love to have anyone who is interested.
