Name: Dahlia Ashstein
Age: 15
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 8
Appearance:
Dahlia has an oval-shaped face surrounded by waves of light brown hair. Her hair falls in waves, reaching down to her shoulder blades. She has a habit of pushing aside her bangs, which tend to fall down in front of her eyes. Dahlia doesn't bother much with her hair. It tends to be messy and tangles very easy. She has natural red hightlights here and there, but they can only be seen if the light hits them just so. Dahlia's best feature would probably be her eyes, brown with flecks of gold in the iris that shine when the light hits them. Her skin is fair and has a almost pink tint to it, like that of a baby. Her lips are pale pink and full and pretty, though they tend to be chapped more often then not.Personality:
Dahlia doesn't have much of a figure, which is made worse by the clothes she wears. Her waredrobe mainly consists of hand-me-down clothes from her older brother that are a couple sizes too big and not at all figure forming. Because most of her clothes come from her brother, she dresses like a boy, and from the neck down she could easily pass as a boy. She doesn't mind this, though, because the clothes she wears are comfortable. Her only owns one dress, a very plain number of a faded red, and she only wears it to special events, such as reapings.
She is tall, coming up at an even 5'8. Her limbs are long and lanky, which tends to make her very awkward and clumsy. However, she is a fast runner. In fact, at times she's much better at running then she is at walking. Do to her family's poverty, she is very thin, and her ribs stick out slightly from under her skin. Despite her boney apperence, she's stronger than she looks, but she is definitely not one for fighting.
Dahlia isn't a very happy kind of person, but she isn't a very sad sad kind of person, either. She's just... there. She moves through the motions of life in a sort of numbness, unsure of her purpose in life and without any clear goals. Though she's just as smart and maybe even smarter than others around her, her grades are less then perfect and she tends to have trouble in school. Whenever someone asks her a question, she gets very nervous and tends to fumble around her answer. She's gotten in trouble a lot because of this.History:
Dahlia is a very socially-awkward person, which makes her outcasted from the people around her. People talk about her as the weird quiet girl with a stutter. Because of this, people tend to avoid her, and she's just okay with that. If she doesn't talk to people, she can't embarress herself with her awkwardness. Still, there's a part of her that longs for some kind of understanding. There's a part of her that longs for a friend.
If she does talk to someone, she's very careful and thinks through everything before she says it. Due to her over-critical mother, she is scared to have her own opinions about anything, much less express them. However, Dahlia is very kind and gentle, and she is good to anyone she may meet. If someone is kind to her, she can become too trusting. She is very easy to take advantage of if someone so desired.
Dahlia Rae Ashstein was born to Francis and Joshua Ashstein 15 years ago on January 3rd. She was preceaded by her big brother, Dylan, by three years, to the day. All her life, she's been overshadowed by her brother. Dylan's always been strong and handsome and smart, and Dahlia's just... Dahlia. It didn't help that they shared a birthday. People would forget about Dahlia in the light of celebrating Dylan's day. But despite all of that, Dylan was Dahlia's best friend, and she was his. He was her protecter and very over-protective of his little sister. They spent any bit of freetime they had outside, just watching the clouds together.Codeword: <img src="http://i41.tinypic.com/16h2ibt.png">
About a year ago, tragety struck. Dahlia's father fell ill and passed away to the grief of his family. They had always been poor, but with Joshua dead, they fell into extreme poverty. Although everyone in the family worked at hard as they could, it was never enough. There was never enough food, never enough clothes, never enough anything. Dahlia has taken to stealing in order to previde for her family. Not a lot, mind you, but a thrown out piece of moldy bread here, a half-rotton apple there... just enough to ensure that no one in her family ever starves. To make matters worse, shortly after her father's death, Dahlia lost her brother, too. No, he didn't die... He fell in love. He met a beautiful, perfect girl, and once he turned 18 he married her and moved away, leaving Dahlia alone and devestated. She doesn't see much of her brother anymore.
Dahlia suddenly found herself all alone with her judgemental, harsh mother. No matter what she did, Dahlia could never be enough for her mother. She yelled at her for her below-average grades and complained about her clusiness. Dahlia soon learned that she could never be good enough. Her awkwardness and insecurities have lead her to develope a stutter, which only makes her more awkward and insecure.
