The rain was flooding down around Swallow-Anne as she stood in the ally walking home from school. It was soaking through the worn tshirt and denim jeans, the mud seeping into the little spaces between her toes, leaving her quite honestly soaked to the bone. Yet in this heat it felt good. The rain was warm and soothing more so than anything she had felt in weeks. Almost feels nicer than a bit of morphling...almost. She closed her eyes and let her head roll up to the sky, rain drops pounding on her face, soaking her hair til it fell in tangled strands around her.
She didn't care that she could get sick, she didn't care about anything but wasting time to keep her from going back to the Community Home. Don't wanna deal with those jerks today, rather just stay out here and melt. Her feet sloshed through the puddles and she had a brilliant idea. Her pace started picking up, faster and faster, leaving a spray of water and muck behind her as she saw the biggest puddle in the street and jumped. For a moment she felt like the world was free, that there was no one that could catch her. That split second that she was suspended in air made it all worth it, as she crashed down with both feet sending a splash that soaked a couple walking by. Swallow-Anne's giggles rang through the square as she sunk down into the puddle, "What? You ain't never had any fun before?" she taunted at them as they bustled past.
It was true that not many people were having fun now days. What with Noreen dying and Elon almost dead. Her heart kinda hurt for Elon, she had grown up with him at the Community home, but deep down she didn't really care. Everyone left, no one really loved anyone there, it was a broken sort of comfort and she was tired of feeling alone. So instead of getting up and headed back like any normal person would do she sat there and grinned a maniacal grin hoping the rain would wash away more than the dirt on her skin.
