At last examination, Subject (C.Borgia) a healthy specimen. When last interviewed, hair had been kept extremely short; not bald but very close to the scalp. C. has widely set dark eyes under thick brows that he used to glare noncommittally at the last official sent to check on his progress. Other defining facial features include a flat nose and a pair of large lips.; his ears are close to the side of his head. Impressive muscular physique; comparable to career tributes from district two. His voice has been described as sardonic but warm. Basic facts aside, the most interesting parts of his body are the ones the capitol paid for. Skin grafts were used to reconstruct parts of his lower torso and a shoulder, as well as for various sections of his overall frame. Subject suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns on close to fifty-three percent of his body at the age of fifteen. Surgeons were not able to save his right arm or leg as the damage had reached the bone, necessitating prosthetic replacements. Details are as follows.

Replacement right hand down to right elbow.This system surgically reroutes nerves from the arm stump of to muscles in his chest. Re-enervated chest muscles now twitch in response to his attempts to move his missing arm, and surface electrodes pick up that muscle activity to use as a control signal. Right Leg was replaced from above the knee down.Microprocessor control for K3-K4 active amputees with a moderate to high level of voluntary muscle control. The Smart Adaptive knee addresses mobility in the context of everyday life. It adapts simply to the most complex terrain. The sensors within the system analyze speed, slopes, stairs and other parameters. Adapting to give security, and enhance the amputee’s lifestyle. New Smart programming mode reduces programming time which allows the knee to begin learning the amputee’s gait nuances. Smart Adaptive Features and benefits include Microprocessor hybrid control – hydraulic stance, pneumatic swing which gives support for stairs and slopes, 140° knee flexion for stumble and support mode and a smart card for program storage which logs activity to monitor progress.Stanceflex for comfort and smooth progression through gait cycle and a concealed battery pack; On-board batteries last up to 14 days on a single charge.

Q. Have you been involved in a traumatic experience or event?

A."Is that what they're calling it now? You tell me. You're giving me this test after six months of therapy. Yes. Yes I have been, and you know full well that what happened. Didn't you read the reports?"

Q: During the traumatic event, did you experience or witness serious injury or death, or the threat of injury or death?

A. Subject paused for a minute, staring incredulously at the interviewer.
"What the heck to you think?! I've just been told that both my parents are dead! I'm a freak! Why couldn't you scientists just let me die?"

Subject proceeded to wave prosthetic arm back and forth before slamming it down on the bed.

Q: During the traumatic event did you feel intense fear, helplessness, and/or horror?

A."Well...actually no. I remember a bright flash of light and intense heat. The explosion threw me backwards and I cracked my head pretty hard. I know I must have been on fire, but I was unconscious for most of it. When I saw the flash I thought I was already going to die. I was at peace."

Q: Do you regularly experience intrusive thoughts or images about the traumatic event?

A."Well its been around a year since the accident happened, So yeah, I've thought about it a lot. Or rather... I've been thinking about my parents. I try not to dwell on the deaths too much you know? I'd rather think about the good things. I'm glad I didn't actually see them die."


Q: Do you sometimes feel like you are re-living the event or that it is happening all over again?
A."I've had a lot of time to think about everything, and I'm trying to put it behind me. Yeah it hurts, and I'm going to remember it for the rest of my life, but I gotta move forward."

Q: Do you have recurrent nightmares or distressing dreams about the traumatic event?

A.
"Heh. The one place where I can't control my thoughts. My subconscious has fun making me dream about how i used to be and then taking it all away."

Q: Do you feel intense distress when something reminds you of the traumatic event, whether it's something you think about or something in you see?

A. "Every time I take a step or try to grab something with this."

A.Well its a good deal easier to do when i'm not being pestered about it."

"It's really easy to do. My parents lab was demolished, and no one was involved in it but the three of us."


Q: Are you unable to remember something important about the traumatic event?
"I believe I told you that before. Flash of light and then I'm waking up in the hospital."

Q: Since the trauma took place, do you feel less interested in activities or hobbies that you once enjoyed?
"The opposite actually. Since being placed in this home, I've had a lot of time time to tinker with all things mechanical. They even let me set up a workshop after I fixed the power couplings."

Q: Since the trauma took place, do you feel distant from other people or have difficulty trusting them?

A.

"My friends are few. But, I've grown to like having them around. Even If they... have interesting ideas of fun."

Q: Since the trauma took place, do you have difficulty experiencing or showing emotions?

A.
"Only when asked a bunch a questions I don't want to hear."


Q: Do you feel that your future will not be "normal" -- that you
won't have a career, marriage, children, or a normal life span?

A.
"Well its nice to know that I won't ever be a peacekeeper. Or an athlete. Or have a girlfriend. And If I ever get reaped I'll be utterly screwed so... Does that tell you about what I think about my future being normal?"

Q: Have you felt irritable or have you had outbursts of anger?

A.
"It takes a lot to piss me off."

Q: Have you had difficulty concentrating, since the trauma?
"No. Have you see my workshop?"

Q: Do you feel guilty because others died or were hurt during the traumatic event but you survived it?

A.

"How am I supposed to feel?"

Q: Do you often feel jumpy or startle easily?

"Nah, the other kids in this joint have a way of keeping me on my toes."

Q: Do you often feel hypervigilant, that is, are you constantly feeling and acting ready for any kind of threat?

A."The world it is a dangerous place. There are those who help and those who harm. And some that are both. You learn a lot living like this. "

Q: Have you been experiencing symptoms for more than one month?

A.
"Well, I still don't have feeling in my right foot, if that's what you meant."

Q: Do your symptoms interfere with normal routines, work or school, or social activities?

A.

"Again. I'm missing limbs sir. Are we done here?"

Conclusion:
Subject is polite and friendly to people he knows; Belligerent and stand-offish to strangers. ;Well-adjusted individual in most areas. insecure about self, taken to false bravado.


Historical Background

Subjects parents were as previously mentioned, Capitol scientists assigned to district nine to study the effects of CLASSIFIED on the CLASSIFED Birth records indicate that the mother was pregnant when they arrived and the child was officially born a citizen of district nine. From early childhood, developed an aptitude for mechanical things, as well as showing several traits worthy of being conditioned for peacekeeping. Elementary years contained a rise through several athletic programs; more games won because of him than anyone else, however, academic grades began to decline. Study indicative of Capitol teachings being handed down from his parents meshing with the districts own philosophies. Further studies were conducted over the years.

Juvenile years passed without incident as the subject progressed through school. Began studying about peacekeepers, while expressing his hope and getting to live in the Capitol once his parents work was done. Continued on the athletic track, building an impressive frame. Made more impressive by the unavailability of muscle stimulants in the lower districts. Showed signs of popularity school. Easy-going, amiable if approached, but would not go out of his way to start a friendship. Won several awards; achieved outstanding excellence in other realms. Eventually, subjects parents experiment proved fruitless. Project was terminated. They resisted. Punishments were in order. All assets were liquidated in an "accident". Surprisingly, the subject survived this where no others did. Was rushed to the hospital by emergency personnel unaware of the nature of the explosion. Given the nature of his injuries, it was decided than instead of having his charts vanish and having him die in the bed, it would be a perfect opportunity to test out some new prosthetic prototypes.

The best models would be afforded to unlucky arena victors, but he would suffice to test them out. Under the guise of life insurance for his grief, these fake limbs would give other scientists valuable insight into how the human body adapted. This was also to see what information the subject might have learned from his parents. Results of the study were... inconclusive. Since then, Subject has been a Government Ward in the care of Facility 0145 (The Tower). They report that he is adjusting well to the prosthetics and had been instrumental in keeping the building running smoothly. Though he has become to old to be a ward of the Capitol, he has proven himself a useful handyman and a valuable reminder of the Capitols generosity and mercy. He is likely to fade into obscurity. A relic in these ever-changing fast paced society.
