the underground artist.

‘Wait, what am I doing here anyways?’ the redhead thought, her eyes on the surrounding area. The green leaves covered the ground from where the summer heat had killed them with the harsh humidity, and the heat waves were almost visible in the air. Face already fading to a pink hue, Lenora knew she needed to get to shelter, to go inside. Her small burrow had been intruded by the summer heat, and it was almost unbearable to even paint within the twenty square feet of the underground dirt. Her clothing choice was quite unusual for a woman in the heated summer in district two. Rather in cool training uniforms and short-shorts, she was dressed in a tank top, long-sleeved zigzag patterned sweater and white flare jeans that met her ankle at the ends. Face twisting into a grimace as the warm winds blew into her face, the salted sweat dripping into her eyes, Lenora grabbed the handle of the library door that was wet with condensation, and walked inside.
She wasn’t one of the few people in district two that enjoyed libraries. They seemed to dull and boring, where the only excitement came from the children’s books on the second floor. Pushing the second entrance door open with sweating palms, she noticed the outline of her hand pinned to the glass. As she made her way inside, she peeled off the sweater she was wearing and stared around, looking for a place to relax. Noting that there was a group of people around the circle of round cushions, she hesitantly walked over and took a seat, her legs crossed as the group continued talking. “Er… Would you guys know if there is a water fountain around here?” she asked, a thoughtful, yet worried look on her face. Watching everyone stare up at her as if she was crazy, her face heated up with a rising blush as they all pointed towards the left wing of the library.
