I am not in a particularly good mood today. The weather has been wrecking things for the fishing businesses and many of the other people here. It's put everybody on edge about everything which always makes me restless and uncomfortable. That in turn makes me all restless and defensive and not my usual self. Today was just one of those days that added to that. I'm not in a bad mood, but I'm sure that I'm putting out my don't mess with me vibe. That's how I ended up out on the beach; I had to get away from the job to try and calm myself down a little bit. It's worked a little, but I'm still out of sorts. My fingers trace a random pattern in the sand as I consider my options. Given there aren't many, but choices are still nice.
I suppose that I could attempt to go back to my family's, but I don't really feel like being there right now. I'd probably do more damage than good, and we need all the sales we can get. Another option would be to head into town, the market, or the trading post. None of those really sound right either since I'm not in need of anything at the moment. I did bring a spear and a bucket, plus my family has a few nets out here. I could check them. That really seems like the best fit. I can both accomplish something and stay away from the shop. My eyes look around the area, and I'm surprise that nobody is out here. I guess most people are busy with other things.
I decide to check our nets first and decide to leave the spear in a little cove of rocks. This way it won't get carried off by the water. Then, I wade into the water and swim out to a small cove a ways out from shore. I find the line and give it a little pull. The weight hasn't changed which means it is empty still. I move to the next one which is also empty. The last one is more encouraging. I pull, and I can tell there are fish in it. Dragging it with me, I bring it to shore and sit to start disentangling the fish from it. As I begin to put the fish in the bucket, I suddenly hear a sound.
