GARRETT NEFF
Sometimes, the cruelest, most cunning person does not always come out on top. Jasper is a boy who wears his heart on his sleeve, he will use it to make decisions, over his head, over the pressure of what his fellow members say. His morals keep him strong, and when he has made a decision he will keep it, as long as he can see that it is the right choice, he will be stubborn up to the point of violence to stay true to himself. And staying true to himself is something he has always had to battle. Every since he was young and had to stay in an orphanage he fought with the other children, he fought with himself to find who he was. The other kids always put him down for his dreams, his ideas and fantasies. Sometimes his want to always work as a team does lead to conflict between the others. He wants them to be able to work together to be friends and love each other. He knows that they aren't all the same, but he still pretends to be blind to the difference that often cause arguments and fights between them. In those conflicts he always tries to be the one to break it apart.History:
Charlie, being the only girl on the ship, tends to make all the boys slightly nervous. However, Jasper doesn't particularly see her as much of a girl. He honestly loves to spend time with Charlie and will often set aside a few hours to talk to her making sure she is okay. In a way he sees has his sister, a little sister that he would do anything to protect - but he would do anything to protect his whole crew, he would risk his life for every one of them. Charlie, having spent almost as much time in the orphanage as Jasper only makes him feel a little more protective of her. He knows how she feels, and he wants to be able to help her. Let's just say he has a little soft spot for the troublesome girl.
It always left him shaken to know that maybe that wasn't who he was meant to be, maybe that was just a dream, and dreams can never become reality. Then when the others came he realized that it could be true, he could be the Captain, he could be what he had always wanted. The ocean, to Jasper, means more than he would let anyone ever know. The way it appears to be so endless and never stops going makes him think, it makes him believe that his life will never have an end, just as long as he keeps sailing, just as long as he has his boys and his ship The Red Star. Being doubtful of himself sometimes means he will try to second guess what he does and often it just leads to one big giant mess. However, being the Captain of the ship does have its pleasures and Jasper finds a lot of time to train with his sword, which never leaves his side. When he fights it is almost as if another side takes control and the moral, decent boy disappears. When Jasper fights, he fights to win and no one will stop him and get in his way. He will play dirty to win a fight. It is often why he will never speak of past fights to everyone, they weigh heavily on his heart as he remembers what he has done. But as the ocean keeps moving so does he and he does not linger for long before he moves on. There is always so much sea, so many treasures and so many people to fight.
i would like to see a focus on always dreaming of these amazing things
and he would sit for hours planning them
these great escapes and marvellous adventures
knowing that nothing would ever come of them
he was that kind of boy, happy to just dream
and let the world carry him along
and then he got dragged along in the whirlwind that is edwin
who was all motive and no plans
and together, they were brilliant
but jasper was still too weak to lead, really
indecisive, not firm enough
he doesn't like to tell people what to do
but he cares an awful, awful lot, and when he believes that someone is in danger or something is wrong
he suddenly gets this power
where he can do anything
and he's firm, then, strong and empowered
and then it slips away and he's just jasper again
the boy who always dreamed of adventure but was never brave enough to run away
so he feels like he owes everything to edwin
at the same time feeling exasperated at the fact that the younger boy seems to have no patience and no rules
and can't sit still
they have this beautiful relationship, where jasper only says stop when stopping must happen
and edwin knows that if jasper actually manages to tell someone to do something
than that thing must be done
he doesn't think he's brave, but his moral compass is amazing
he just knows what's right and what's wrong, what's too far and what's okay
he gets these gut feelings
that he knows he has to act on
he's so powerful
and everyone has this respect for him that he doesn't even realise
he just knows what's good and what's bad
and he feels like he owes it to the world an himself to finally do something
he feels like it's his responsibility to save people
because he can
so he does
uh and then he's basically this motherly figure
who forgets that he's a man
in a way
but yeah. he's a little afraid that the kids won’t respect him
because he doesn't feel like he's brave enough to be a good leader
so he runs the ship like a democracy, almost
unless something is a matter of life or death
he's kind of like, what do you guys think
it's a team effort, unlike ophelia, who tells people what shits gotta get done and they do itWhat Emmiie sees
ORPHAN. DON'T KNOW MAMMA OR PAPPA. LIVED HIS WHOLE LIFE IN THAT HELL WHOLE. HOPING AND WISHING UPON STARS. FILLED WITH DREAMS AND WANTS. THEN EDWIN PUSHED HIM AND HE DID IT. STOLE THAT STUPID SHIP. TOOK WHAT THEY NEEDED TO LIVE AND NOW THEY ARE THE GODS OF THE OCEAN. ITS PROTECTORS AND THOSE SPARROW SISTERS WILL RUN. THEY WILL COWER. THE FINCH BROTHERS WILL STOP THEM. BY THE WAY OTP OPHELIA AND JASPER.Codeword: ODAIR
Side note -- end bio with him naming the ship The Red Star
