"Ok, now you need to put your foot into there, ok, and you need to hop up now! Don't worry I'll help you Horus, on the count of three! One, two, three! There ya go. Steady, Miracle, steady now! You're lucky your horse loves you so much, or you might've been thrown off! Are ya ready now?"
This was the first thing I heard as soon as I got out of bed, got dressed into my best jeans and boots with a t-shirt, and walked out with not a care in the world. This was my first riding lesson. Most boys my age have already mastered the riding art, but it's my first time. I've been feeling a lot better lately, summer seems to do that to me, so my dad decided it was the perfect time to teach me. I was already up on the horse. I just needed to know how to steer it. My dad was ready and able to give that knowledge, so I was ready to go. I nodded and gave a big thumbs up. He nodded and turned to Miracle, and walking to her backside, he gave her a good slap. Now, you might think that my dad was a madman, this being my first riding lesson. But he knew what he was doing. He taught my sister Isis the same way, and I trusted him with all of my heart.
Now my dad slapped the horses backside, and Miracle was off, trotting. I loved it, though it hurt my hips and my crotch. My dad wasn't expecting Miracle to gallop though. I wasn't either, so when she sped up a little, I was thoroughly surprised. I was also thoroughly enjoying it. I made her speed up a little bit, and soon we were galloping across our land. I had a huge smile on my face, and my eyes were bright with giddiness. I came around close to my dad, and he had his cowboy hat off, smiling as well. "Well, you're a natural!" he called out, and I nodded, still smiling like a fool. I came around to the front gate, and I looked at him, and with onne hand on the reins I signed to him. It was a simple question. "Can I go?"
He nodded with a bright smile. "Of course ya can, just bring 'er back by noon, so she can get her hay and feed. And if ya fall off, come straight back, ya hear?" I nodded back, and I brought her out of the ranch, bringing her around to the outskirts of the district. He was trotting around, galloping, walking her, and we were both thoroughly enjoying it. I smiled, but all of a sudden, we weren't on the outskirts anymore. We were approaching the middle. I hadn't ever been here before. I look around, and I hop off of Miracle, patting her mane, and stroking her nose. There was a trough nearby, right next to another ranch, and I brought her over for a quick drink. I looked around, looking for anyone, making sure to check for people my age. After not being outside for a week, the middle of the district can be pretty overwhelming. I glanced a little more, seeing people staring at my perfect mare. I glared at the worst offenders, and I put a protective arm around her neck. No one was going to touch my mare.
