Ryder comes from district 8, the textiles district. Clothing such as the uniforms worn by Peacekeepers are designed and created there. Seeing that this district still falls financially unfortunate due to the rich textured clothing created in the Capitol, one has to get by with what they can. Ryder does just that. Life in district 8 is a life of limitations, strict code, and nothing foolish. Just get through your days without messing up. Think smart, and don’t do anything that could get you or your family into trouble. Do not find her offensive while reading this. She is a conceptual but compassionate individual.History:
When it comes to compassion, she’s a worrier. She has a handful of important people in her life and feels that if she were to stretch herself out to more people, she would worry about them as well. In her opinion, what she has is enough. There is too much to do to worry about creating more relationships. So despite the people in her life, she would rather keep to herself. She has set up boundaries that do not tear easily. She is a hard egg to crack. She is friendly to all and does wear a smile upon her face when greeting anyone, but she does not desire to go farther than making acquaintances...if even that.
As for conceptual, Ryder is assertive. She does not want to go through with things unless she knows what the possible outcomes will be. If they fall in her favor, she is likely to go through with the decision. If the odds are against her favor, she is reluctant to go through with them. To think logically is how she stays out of trouble. She would not want to put herself or the people she cares about in jeopardy. So she goes by the rules unless whatever decisions come to mind that could be foolish are of good favor. Things she knows will weigh good more than bad.
When you have a personal relationship with Ryder, it is as if she is different. Yes, you see the compassion and you can see how conceptual she is when she always asks “why? how? when? will it work?” She’ll always ask questions. She’s smart, though. She likes to trouble-shoot and fix problems. She’s a listener, and she’ll provide what advice she can. She’s not only sympathetic but she’s got empathy as well. She will attempt to place herself in a situation to understand where somebody is coming from. Ryder’s a valuable family member and friend. She is protective of what belongs to her and that includes her relationships. She will defend when someone needs a defender. She is loyal, and she’ll go out of her way to help others. Well, those she cares about. She can be funny, she has a sense of dry humor and her jokes are relevant to the situation...coming out of her mouth though, is what makes it funny. She rarely does joke...but when she does it is something to laugh about. And you’ll cock your head to the side wondering how such a thing could come out of her mouth.
When it comes to the negatives of Ryder. The fact that she has boundaries barricading her from others trying to reach into her life, and the fact that she cannot go through with something without thinking out each step can make her difficult and intolerable to some. The fact that she does not try to initiate anything further from acquaintance can make her come across as socially awkward. And when she worries, she is prone to worrying herself sick. She has literally had herself bed ridden worrying over things others may find as small and insignificant. She often finds herself in mental ways with herself since she is both compassionate and conceptual. She does not necessarily listen to her heart because her brain says “no”. That alone can block her from opportunities, and she wouldn’t see it as bad...because in her mind...it would have never been in her favor. That is what could kill her...when he brain wins over her heart. Will she ever find true happiness if she so chooser to always follow her conceptual thoughts over her compassion?
Ryder has her quirks, but she is an all around pleasant person. It’s too bad she’s a hard egg to crack. If you ever can, you’ll find a diamond in the rough.
Ryder was born to two very loving individuals. Jedediah and Ainzley Lurex. For two years she was their only child. The two spent their time coddling their baby and going through her first two years providing her with all the love and attention loving parents would give their child. A little past age two her parents gave birth to Beau Lurex...and a year after that Lauryl.Codeword: Odair
Ryder grew up a curious child. Living in district 8, her parents both worked in textile factories. Jed worked on designing the Peacekeepers’ uniforms and Ainzley was handy with the sewing machines. Due to the district being textile district, fabric was not as scarce as it could be. Hence the family survived whatever harsh weather could come through. They could at least make it through winter with coats and summer with under shirts. District 8 had odd weather, it was useful to be a textile district under those circumstances.
Unfortunately, the fact that district 8 may have provided for Panem, they could never keep up with the lush and over-the-top materials created at the Capitol. This is why district 8 struggled. District 8 also falls under harsh rules. Ryder had to grow up learning the hard way that she could not be foolish...and she learned quick. As loving as her parents were, if she ever stepped out of line...so far that if it was noticed that family would get into some trouble, she was reprimanded. She wondered why she could receive punishment over things she felt were small, and as a child she was sometimes too curious to pass up something...but as she continued to grow, she learned to be “less selfish”. And if things did not seem to look as if they would be to her or any-one's benefit, she figured she should let it be.
Tesserae was not a huge benefit for her family. They were a lot more fortunate than other districts. Strict rules? Yes. Food source? It was decent. If they found they were going short since they were a family of five, then maybe her name was entered a couple more times for the reaping. However, she was always lucky enough to not ever have her name pulled. At times, as she watched tributes get picked, she always wondered if that would ever be her. However, she is now Seventeen. She has survived five years of not being pulled and she only has this year and next to fear being pulled. After that her only worry would be any of her friends that are younger or her beloved younger sisters. And that thought brought horror to her more than herself. Sure, she worried about herself, but somehow...her sisters being chosen would pain her more than herself. She was not too sure of them thinking as logically as her. They were too...free-spirited to be thrown into something so awful.
Being Seventeen, Ryder has a small and simple job in the textile factory. Her job is basically to make sure everything is efficiently supplied. Nobody can be missing anything important. Everyone is to be stocked with the right equipment and the right amount. Ryder is fairly good with numbers, hence she is confident with her job. She does hope to be promoted to a designer when she reaches 18. She would feel much more valuable, and she’s always somewhat liked her father’s job...although he was one of the people that contributed to what the harsh Peacekeepers wore. He was one of the people clothing them. But she accepted it, a job is a job and she was too smart to step out of line...unless there was very good reason to do so.
