I'd give you my heart, and I'd let you just hold it
I'd give you my soul, but I already sold it.

I was scared to pieces as I stood in front of the fence in District 4, touching it and leaning against it. The hovercraft wasn't in the sky, but I was still afraid in case it appeared. I was still in District 4, but right at the edge. Behind me was the outside world. I looked back. The trees rustled and the branches shook, as if they were worried like me. I stood up, and trudged along the grass towards the fence opening. I was about to leave my district.
I won't escape. I'm sure of that. I'll still be at the mercy of the Capitol. It'll just be nice to know I'm not crammed up in District 4 any longer. I was getting sick of the salty atmosphere here, and the forest could have a different smell. I sighed and took a deep breath, and I placed a foot outside the district. Then another, and soon I was running like crazy, running like the people in the Hunger Games do, into the forest, with my bow and arrow.
I wanted to hunt. I wanted to catch a good meal and bring it home. I wanted to eat a hearty meal that isn't just fish me and my father caught. I wanted to also be free like the wind, away from the salty air of the district, and in the open air of the forest. The trees made the air crisp and sweet. It brushed gently against my bare arm as I ran as fast as I could through the forest. I saw a bird in the sky, and I slotted an arrow in my bow and shot it, aiming at it. It flew past and the arrow jammed itself into the tree.
I still needed practice. But I was certainly coming to the forest again soon. And, best of all, there was no hovercraft in the sky. They were probably off catching criminals in the other districts, not here. I smiled and I ran off, the arrows wriggling about in my rucksack.
