Anthem - Day 8

The sulphuric gas lingers on the horizon, giving the arena a yellowish hue until the lights dim. Night comes quietly, stealthily into Tartarus, its dark heart in the pit. No sounds echo through the arena, except perhaps those of neighboring tributes. The anthem shatters the darkness.

The melody finishes, and the seal is replaced by the faces of the dead:

Demeter Merwin-Glory, District Two
Curtis Grant, District Seven
Heather Elliot, District Eleven

You count on your fingers to tally up the dead, and the subtraction is simple enough that even your tired brain realizes that there are only five tributes left in the arena including yourself. Four more have to die if you're to make it home.

The music stops and the projection fades, throwing the Arena into darkness once more.
