I could feel my heart beating in my chest, the waves tearing at my feet. My legs were moving faster then I thought they ever could after running this long. My eyes were focused on the horizon, while my nose was gathering scents from the salty water. I stopped, breathing heavily in and out. Focusing on my slowing my heart rate down, I let my eyes drop from the horizon. The time on my watch said it was three forty-five and I had started my run at one, keeping a fast pace. The salty air filled my nose bringing sweet memories to my brain. I flopped down onto the sandy ground, letting the water rush up to me, and try to drag me back in. It took everything I had not to jump in and swim. Oh, what the hell. I took off my shirt, exposing my body to the few people on the beach. I grabbed some goggles that had washed up on the beach after a party here last night. Strapping them to my head I shallow dove into the water and swam until I couldn't touch.
Kicking only ever so slightly I made my way to the bottom of the empty sea. The waves reflected off the sandy bottom creating intricate designs that seemed like they meant something. I wished I could live on the bottom of the ocean. It is so peaceful here, but soon, my lungs would move my feet and push me up to the surface. Back to the hustle and bustle of District 4. I swam back to shore and checked my watch again. It was laying under my shirt a few feet back from the line where the water was pulled back into the never ending waves. Four fifteen. I looked around. I didn't want to go home wet, but I figured I would dry off soon enough. Looking down the shore I focused my eyes on the horizon again and set off.
I took about twenty steps before running into a lawn chair. In it, sat a gorgeous girl. She was looking right into the sun. I blocked her light. Can I use your towel? I said pointing to her navy blue beach towel strung over a bag next to her chair.
