Their parents have always wanted a victor..
The Morenos are a large, wealthy Career family residing in District One. The parents (unnamed as of right now) grew up as Careers themselves, waiting, fighting, hoping for their chance to be entered in the Games and claim the glory that comes along with being a victor.
Neither of them had their chance. So they grew up, got married, and new chances of glory were born through their children, who they trained from a young age to be ruthless killers.
And then they had an idea.
Being one of the wealthiest families in the District, they had resources. They had a large home. They had connections. So, one day, they began to make visits to the community home. Over a period of weeks, they observed. They picked out the strong ones, the spunky ones, the trouble-makers, the fighters, the lively. From the community home they slowly began to take in new children -- ones that they could raise as their own, lovingly (though it's questionable that they love at all), and began their training as well.
And then they had another idea.
They supplied the children with weapons, one day, and told them to pretend. To take their training, their fighting, to new levels -- surprising each other in attacks at home ("They'll have such good reflexes!) and training them in a way that could never be achieved anywhere else. The kids fought, and it was all a game. Injuries occurred from time to time, but nothing too serious.
Nobody ever really said anything about the change in the kids. It was a gradual thing, a shift in the mindset. It probably happened on accident, even. The more damage the kids did on their opponents while fighting, the more attention they got from the parents. "These are our best prospects." The kids loved it. Beforehand, very few of them felt any such connection with the parents. They felt accomplishment, pride in themselves with each bit of damage they did. The more they fought, the more praise they got.
Then the killing started, because they were drawn to it. From that point on, it wasn't about injuring. It was about cold-blooded murder for sport within their own home, a way to gain the highest of praise, to be the best. With so many children, every breath and every action is a contest. Some despise the killing, others can never manage to clean the blood off their hands.
The bodies are buried in the yard. The Peacekeepers are paid off to ignore it. With each death, more children come in from the community home. It's a cycle of murder and family and a search for glory.
Nothing is ever secure.

Okay, everyone. <3 So! If you would like a Moreno, post here. If you've already asked me if you could make one, and you're in the process (or if they're already accepted and I haven't put them on the list) make sure to post here too so I can sort things out.
Keep in mind that:
- We need some females
- We need some younger characters
- Morenos can be either from the community home OR born in the original household.
- You'll have to ask me if you have any out-there ideas. This family allows for a lot of creativity and differences, but at times some things aren't allowed. If you aren't sure, ASK.
- The roles of the parents are also up for grabs, if anyone wants one of them.
- The "kids" (I call them that -- they're not all kids) can be really any age between 9 - Mid-twenties.
Please note that you need an OK from me before you go ahead and make a character. On a side note, I'd like to have a thread soon where they try to decide what to do with Reyes' body. If you're interested in joining that one, just say the word. <3
