The front door of the mid-sized house closed behind Kyler as he ushered his younger siblings, all now old enough, out onto the sidewalk and to school. It was a typical day in District 4. The sun was out, the water was warm-ish, and there was steady breeze that swept through the city. The sun was rising up over the waters and was casting a bright pink and orange and purple water color masterpiece into the sky. The only difference was that many people would be skipping work in order to go into the square to watch the games happening right now. The 61st Hunger Games was happening right now, and Kyler supposed he would care more, if he had known the boy who was sent. Right now, all he could think about was the guaranteed verbal lashing his father was sure to issue when he and the other kids returned home. His father, Patrick was sure to be in abysmal spirits, as he would one of a few that actually went to work down at the docks today. Kyler had been hit before, and he would take it again if he had to.
As Kyler turned up the street to the school with his five siblings in line in front of him, he took a deep breath. School was boring. Really boring. Kyler often feel asleep, and often came home with the bruises to prove it. He was still a good student though. He could test well enough to get buy and maybe get a good job someday. As they opened the doors of the school, Kyler could see a large crowd of students in the hallways, waiting for classes to start. He made his way to his locker and deposited his jacket, leaving him in his white long sleeve t-shirt and jeans. He turned around and began to walk to class-Ickthyology- the study of fish. How much could there be to learn about fish anyway? I’ve been taking this class since I was six, surely there can’t be that much more I need to know… Kyler thought to himself as he turned the corner to head down the North Hallway toward his class.
(( Sorry there isn't more. I figured I would leave it as open as possible for others to join.))
