Never been consider pretty by traditional standards.
She is curvy in the right places, not the cute, little, petite, blonde, pixie type but womanly. Another woman would look the other way and cast her off as no competition.
But the men have always noticed her. Not that she would notice them noticing...she has never thought of herself as something to be desired
She is a strong person. She has had to deal with a lot of loss. She fears being alone. Although she may not feel it, she harbors a glimmer of hope for the future. She tries to take everything in stride. Pushes through each day. "Just do it til the sun goes down" like Elizon would always say when they were younger. She only has one real talent but has a damn lot of determination and likes to keep her sense of humor about things.History:
She grew up very poor and didn't know her father, Her mom married an abusive drunk. He put food on the table but made sure she paid for it with every lash of his belt. Her best friend was a boy named Elizon. They bonded through their their similar abuses. Elizon would always take double lashings so his sister wouldn't have to take any. Jovie's mother left at the age of 13. The only real family she had left were her uncle and her grandfather. She spent as much time being away with Elizon, picking up small jobs, doing anything, just to stay out of the house, away her stepfather. She was never really good at school but she loved music. It was one of the few things that held her together. She was a strong willed, confident person, who knew where she stood and where her morals lay, despite the hand she was dealt. She felt like she was supposed to do something with her life. Life had to get better sometime or another. She quit school at 17 and wound up among the working class. In the coming years, her uncle died of cancer, her stepfather drank himself into his own grave, and her grandfather died of old age. Any male figure she had ever had in her life, good or bad, was now gone. Having suffered loss before, it was difficult to bear but it wasn't until the reaping, when they called Elizon's name, did she finally break under the pressure of it all. Like the 22 others, Elizon did not survive. The bills from the funerals, their debts, repairs to the house that her uncle was renovating when he passed, the pain, her own financial responsibilities began to pile up. And lastly the loss of the one person with whom she could share all her thoughts. She continued to put even more time into her job, working from sun up to sundown, tiring herself so that she could sleep at night with no dreams instread of seeing the faces of every one she knew and loved; dead. Nothing could soothe her. She could not even manage to regain enough motivation the do the only thing that could have allowed her any reverie from her own life. Music was lost. Happiness was lost. She was miles away from the person she once was and slipping further everyday. Maybe she wasn't special, destined to do anything great. Maybe she was fated to live alone in district 11 and work til her own days were through.Codeword: muttations
