Wade often tries to recall or more fittingly, imagine, how did he end up where he is based on his sister's explanations. Some are good, some are bad, and some are just plain off of the chart. The most famous one among them being the "Nephew" theory, it is said that one of the sisters had been seeing people outside of the house and since the precious pills was never allowed for the sisters to take at excess, the sister was eventually pregnant with wade. What happens next would be self explanatory following the "I'm pregnant - oh shit" routine, so in the end the sister brought the infant to the door as an abandoned child hoping the house would take pity on the infant, and take pity the house did. It makes sense wade thinks, it satisfy the guilt of his mother from abandoning her son which in many case will likely result in the child's infant death and it takes a huge chunk of responsibility off of his young mother's shoulder which will surely change her life into something she never asked for. Wade never hated her mother for leaving him alone parent-less, who ever she is, but he hated the idea that he is the precipitation of some people's mistake.

For what comes in next of life for Wade was a milky solution of midnight rhythmical bed squeaking and the low moans of his sisters coming from the walls ...

Life was good for wade, the house provided him enough food to stay alive but the real treats came from all of his sisters, which in turn came from the gifts the sisters received from the rare but wealthy capitol visitors and the peacekeepers. In a way wade was a pet to keep the sisters' spirit up, they would pet him, feed him, take care of him, and most of the time dress him for their leisure and wade's ability of creeping into a young girl's heart as a cute innocent little boy never disappoints them.
