(O R I E N T A T I O N) ~ Heterosexual
(O T H E R) ~ Drugs?Step one you say we need to talk
He walks you say sit down it's just a talk
He smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on throughMeryem was a fairly pretty girl, nothing like Celeste or Elodie, but far from homely. That's changed quite a bit. since her aunts, Rosalind and Narcissa, disappeared. The looks are still there - they are still a possibility - but have fallen into disrepair. Like an old car, the ability to look good is still there, one just has to work at it.
As one proverbial owner of an old car, Meryem does not put the work in.
While Mery has a tall fame with long legs, and a generally - too - skinny body, she has taken this to new heights. Meryem's drug use - a complicated thing, really - has near prevented her from eating, let alone maintaining weight. Her so-called 'old car' has lost its roof, one might say.
Oh yes, Mery is blonde, though she could not tell you whether blonde is her natural color or instead from dye. From what she can remember - which really is not much - her aunts had blonde hair, or is that just from her hallucinations. Who knows? Who cares?
Mery would like to not care, but she really does. It's why she takes the drugs.
Although she blue eyes - which, actually, pierce through people because Mery doesn't even see them - Meryem doesn't try to make her eyes look good. Her eyes are surrounded by heavy-handed dark eye makeup. these colors tone down her natural eye color, making her looks dreary and far less stunning.
She'd like to say that she hears people talking, but she does not. "What's wrong with her?" they whisper. A flurry of responses, "I heard she's crazy," or, "It's all the mother," all fail to hit the point. The one that she hears not but is the true answer is, "The drugs. It's drugs."
Oh, and they know it's true. It is the drugs, but they'll never go away. They have an effect on everything, especially her dress. Not like she cares about what she wears. Really, she could care less. During her excursions out of the house - some lasting a few hours, others lasting a couple of weeks - clothes get ruined. That does not matter. Mery still wears those clothes, she hardly even notices. Her clothes are not about her image, Meryem does not mean to portray a certain thing. She just puts clothes on and, eventually, takes them off .
Maybe she smells every once in a while, maybe she doesn't.
It couldn't matter less to Meryem.
All Meryem's looks show are her lifestyle; just the way that she lives. Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
And you begin to wonder why you cameIt just is all about the drugs. There is not much else to Meryem's life; or rather not much that in't affected by the drugs. But why does she do her antidepressant and hallucinogen mix? Ask Mery, it's simple.
Her two aunt's disappearance.
Don't call it death, Mery will freak out. Even under the stupor that her drugs cause, Meryem refuses to believe that they have died. "No," she'll tell you, "They're alive."
And when her aunts come back, Meryem swears she'll stop with her concentrated pills.
Bullshit.
Meryem claims that the drugs are just her way of coping with the drugs - she doesn't want to be a depressed bitch like Justice. When Rosalind and Narcissa return from wherever they are, she'll stop. Mery's sure there wont even be an effect from the drugs, she wont feel the need to take them anymore because there will be no more reason why.
Nope. That's not how drugs work, and this certainly is shown when Meryem is off her drugs. During those said times, her drugs still have an affect on her. She gets antsy, nervous, angry, jumpy, and is mentally out of it - much like she is on her drugs. Meryem bites her fingernails to shreds when she goes through her supply to quickly.
And then comes the wait.
Waiting is the worst part for Meryem. More times than not she is just waiting around the pickup spot while intoxicated, wondering what exactly she is doing there. She'll mutter things to herself that she is even unaware of. From what Meryem's heard in her few moments of actual consciousness, she's had Peacekeepers tail her back to the house.
She didn't care. Meryem's sure the Peacekeepers know about her little secret. Not like it's a secret or anything. Everyone knows she does drugs to cope with her lack of aunts.
Meryem doubts that anyone has a problem with it.
What gets to Meryem - and really the only thing that gets through to Meryem when she is on her drugs - are her hallucinations. Most of those said hallucinations have to do with what is going on around her, but the freaky ones are when she sees one of her aunts, or both. Most of these involve her aunts hugging her and telling Meryem will be alright.
But there are others.
The ones where her aunts melt, and drown, and get killed, and get taken away by Peacekeepers. These are the most common hallucinations that Meryem has, and they absolutely have an effect on Meryem.
Just not enough of Meryem to stop.Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a lifeMeryem's life had been nothing special up until the point where her aunts disappeared. She was the second oldest of seven, and she was a nice young girl. She caused few issues for her mother and father, but her father was almost never there. He was always out doing his transport work for the Capitol. It made some decent money, but is nothing special at all. Just enough to support the family.
But then everything changed. Her two aunts, the two aunts that Meryem was closest with, disappeared. Nobody was sure of how. Maybe they did something illegal and got killed or ran away. Meryem had no idea at all of what was actually the truth about that. But she fell into a a deep depression, one that she had no idea how to get out of.
Then she found the drugs. And those drugs were great for Meryem. They made her, not yet happy, but not upset. She was able to manage herself on a daily basis because of the drugs, and for no other reason. Those drugs may make Meryem hallucinate, and she might ahve dropped out of school, but it doesn't matter. The people of District Five generally don't give Mery trouble, they let her do her own thing. Easier to let Meryem slip away to death than it is to try and fix her.Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
