Helena Markham [District Two] ~CBD

Helena is another highly polished career of this particularly competitive District for the Games. Her athletically built frame stands at five foot nine, and her figure is certainly not dainty. Though she is not overweight by any stretch, her curves are not soft and womanly like many other girls her age. Her years of physical endurance and prowess have chiseled her frame thickly out of muscle. Her size and structure give her formidable posture and poise to exude her lethality in every move she makes.

Aside from her size, Helena’s strong facial features are also prominent. Her heavily lidded, almond shaped eyes are both appealing yet sinister in the way her hazel gaze pierces those around her. Along with her thin aquiline nose and sharp chin, Helena could be comparable to a beautiful and deadly bird of prey. This is only enhanced by her thick, naturally wavy, dirty blonde locks that fall just below her shoulders.

Blunt. That would be the perfect word to describe this passionate young woman. It’s not to say that she is mean spirited or inherently rude, but being raised mostly among brothers, she has never found need for a filter. She will always speak her mind, positively or negatively and with or without being asked for her opinion. In that, she can be a bit selfish, as she doesn’t tend to care whose feelings she hurts as she states her thoughts so openly; however, this is because she thinks she is doing everyone a courtesy with her unyielding honesty.

Loyalty is another major factor in the make up of Helena Markham. Despite the constant reinforcement of “every man for himself” when it comes to training for the Hunger Games, Helena can’t help but stay true to those she deems friends and people worthy of her attention. It all seems to boil down to her need for truth in both what is spoken and done to all.

Helena grew up in a household of three other boys, two older, and one younger sibling. Their father is a former peacekeeper, so the man had not settled down back in District 2 and married until he was nearly forty. He had quickly gotten married and his wife and he cranked out their four children rather close in age to one another so they could have the life they had always wanted. Their mother had once upon a time trained for the Hunger Games, however never had the opportunity, as so few do, to actually complete. Her dreams of glory and a life beyond mediocrity lived on through her children as she pushed each to follow in her footsteps as well. With their father getting older, and the small means this larger family had to live on between his and their mother’s salary, it wasn’t hard to spark a hope for the glorious life of those who lived in Victor’s Village.

Now older, her eldest brother has already joined the Peacekeepers out of monetary necessity. Her next elder is only a year older and still holds hope for the opportunity to compete in the Games as both she and her younger brother do.
