Onyx Matias District 1

Onyx is 6' 3" and is thin, but strong. He has jet black hair and black eyes to match. He is slightly tanned that gives him a dark, mysterious look. He has a scar running from the outside of his left eye, under his nose and ending at the corner of the right side of his mouth. He received this scar in a secret sword fight with his brother.
He hardly smiles. His face is like a chiseled rock. His eyes are sunken slightly giving him an even more intimidating look. His nose is crooked due to another fight that left his nose broken. His hands are large and have a strong grip.

Onyx is quiet, but intelligent. He keeps his intelligence a secret because he does not want others to know. He'd rather intimidate them.During training he always brings his best, he never holds back. He wants to show the others that he is a force to be reckoned with. Onyx knows the tributes from 1, 2, and 4 are supposed to stick together in the Games, and he intends to do so, but he is already planning in his mind ways to kill the other Careers, as everyone calls them. He hates the term Career, but he is willing to play into the part. All the girls in his school are afraid of being sent to the Games with Onyx because they know he will not be afraid, nor hesitant, to kill them when the time comes, even his own girlfriend is afraid of going with him.
He is very skillful with a sword and the only one who can beat him in a sword fight in District 1 is his oldest brother. He is a fast runner, but not stealthy and quiet. He makes a lot of noise and can never sneak up on anyone. Regardless, he can strike fear into the heart of an opponent. Fear is one of his biggest weapons.
His flaws are few, but can prove deadly if exploited. His is partially blind on his left side due to the injury to that side. He can see out of his left eye, but only when he is looking straight ahead. Another of his weaknesses is that because of his size he cannot climb trees and has to stay on the ground. He also is very impatient and will often try to do something quickly rather than wait on it. He gets very violent when he gets angry, causing many people to fear him.
Although many people quickly make assumptions about Onyx, he has many strengths that not many people find out. First, he can be very loyal to certain people, especially his family. Second, he stays true to his word and does not make promises he cannot keep. Last, he is honest and does not lie. But he does not usually make this obvious.

Onyx was born to two jewelers. He was named Onyx because he was born with jet black hair that reminded his parents of the precious stone, onyx. Matias was his grandfather's name, and was given it in honor of him. Onyx has three older brothers and one younger sister. Onyx remembers every Hunger Games since he was 5. He picked up the flaws of some tributes, the strengths in others, and evaluated how the victor won. Although not allowed to train for the Games, he often fought his older brothers in hand-to-hand combat, sword fighting, and archery starting when he was 7. He especially liked sword fighting and focused mainly on mastering that skill.
When Onyx was 11 his mother fell ill and died. Ever since then he became quiet and introverted. He exercises whenever he feels the need to release his anger and depression. His father did his best to try to talk to Onyx, but Onyx wouldn't listen because he was too hurt by the experience. Onyx vowed to go to the Hunger Games one day to fight for his mother.
Onyx is excited for the chance to participate in the Games. He wants to prove to the Capitol and the rest of Panem that District 1 is the best district. Onyx wants to volunteer for the Games one day, but cannot seem to muster up the courage to do so. Secretly, he hopes to be chosen. Onyx has seen many of his friends from school go of to fight in the Games and hopes one day it will be his turn.
