Asella Valerius - District 4

Asella is definitely more of an extrovert than an introvert. She’s very confident and comfortable with who she is and what she looks like. Obviously, there are somethings about herself that Asella wishes were better, but overall she’s not self-conscious or worried about how she acts or what people think about her. It’s very easy to get her excited about something because she’s easy to please. If someone just gave her a flower that they picked up on impulse, Asella would be nothing but smiles for the whole day. In that sense, she is a little bit childish, but, as was said before, she is completely fine with that. Additionally, she is a very loud person, which can be a little bit annoying sometimes. Asella opinions must always be heard because obviously people always care about what she thinks or feels about something. She’s not the best listener but she tries.

Her friends are treasured just as much as her family is. Asella absolutely loves spending time with her family and friends and is always open to meeting new people, even if she never gets the chance to really get to know them. Guys were always a big issue with her because even though she finds them easy to talk to, none of them really seem to want to have a relationship with her. The only guys that adore her, exist in her dreams or in the stories she makes up sometimes to pass the time. In short, Asella is a hopeless romantic who’s love life is less exciting than moss growing on a rock. As for the girls, Asella is friendly to strangers, and supportive of her close friends. If one of her friends decides to do something crazy, she’s most definitely not the voice of reason, but instead the one already doing it. Normally this works out fine but her tendency to not think things through has a little too much potential to hurt someone than is comfortable for the people who are rational.

Speaking of her being irrational, Asella is the worst person to get in a fight with, or to try reasoning with. She’s incredibly stubborn and can be a little bit ignorant. Especially when someone opposes her. Asella is smart enough that she’s not wrong all of the time, but when she is, she won’t admit it; Asella values her pride too much for that. It takes days or even weeks for her to admit that she was wrong and get over whatever it is that was being argued about. Asella is not the type to keep dwelling on the past though so once she does get over something, Asella won’t ever think twice about it again. So, she’s not the type to hold a grudge after a fight that ended forever ago, and she doesn’t understand people who do.

17 years ago, on June 19, Asella was born. Her parents, Michelle and Simon Valerius, named all of their children after objects vaguely related to oceanic objects. Whenever Asella asked why, they would say that it was solely for the reason of making cute nicknames later on. Anyway, Asella was named after a shell (though it’s not really a shell, it just sounds like the phrase “a shell” o.e), her older brother Otto was named after a sea otter, her younger sister Ceilia was named after a seal. Her parents were clearly very creative. She was raised to have very carefree and fun ideals. Of course, this doesn’t mean she and her family rebel against the peacekeepers and all of the laws. No, they know what they have to do in order to stay out of trouble but still enjoy life.

As a child she spent a lot of time with her younger sister Ceilia. The two girls were practically inseparable. Asella would often make up stories to tell her younger sister, love stories mostly, whenever they had free time.When she got older though and was about 13, Asella started to spend more and more time with her older brother since her younger sister started to become seriously engrossed in the social pyramid at school. Around that same time, Asella started working part time as a deck hand along with her brother and dad on one of the larger fishing ships. When school gets out everyday, she goes straight home, does her homework, and then get’s back to the docks around sun down for work. Typically Asella will help them unload the ship or help out with the cleaning so that it’s nice and shiny for the next day. Her daily routine isn’t very exciting during the week or really during the whole school year, but whenever she has no school to worry about, Asella spends most of her time around the docks anyway.

To this day, Asella has really only ever had one boyfriend. Two years ago, she had met this guy named Jason who seemed really awesome and cool but in the end turned out to have been cheating on her with two other girls. Classy. But none the less, Asella continues to have faith and is sure that she’ll meet a guy who isn’t such a jerk. She’s also encountered quite a few lame girls in the past who were nothing more that fake friends who wanted her to get to her older brother. In general though, Asella doesn’t care about her social image anyway so she’s completely happy with her two best friends Jessica and Serena. Two girls who totally understand her. Or maybe they’re lying to her too. Who knows. Asella doesn’t but she sure as hell doesn’t care. She will continue to trust everybody who comes her way because she is absolutely sure that people aren’t as bad as the ones she’s encountered in the past.
