I woke up and moved around
The sound of chatters fill my ears
A few words come in reply.
And a thought comes to my mind.
You see a young girl walking in the distance. You rush towards her. You want to be a journalist. Perfect practise. So prepare for the interview. Hello Miss, what's your name? The girl looks at you in surprise and then her face erupts in a smile. Oh, hello there. My name is Saffron Michaela Hope. What's yours? You give her your name and then start asking her more things. Like her age. *giggle* Oh, why I'm thirteen. Then you ask her how she'd describe herself:
Appearance:
So, I've got tanned skin. *giggles again* Talking about blood, I have a bleeding disorder. Unfortunately I don't know what it's called. Let's just say I have a lot of nosebleeds. I've got dark brown eyes that sparkle at you. They're common in my bloodlines. Check if you want! I've got looooong dark brown hair.
My teeth are really white. Whiter than most cause get what I can afford, that none of my friends can. I can buy toothpaste! On my back you'll see this ginormous elephant-sized butterfly-shaped birthmark. Grandma said it looked like a Monarch butterfly's wings. Oh yeah, I can't see in my right eye. Not gouged out or anything. Just blind. But I can actually see you really well with this one eye.
And also people sometimes say I look weird. I don't though, do I. Please say I don't.
Personality:
How would you describe your personality Now, let's see. I'm really smart. Yeah Mother tutors me. I can read! I like that. I know 1 + 1. I know my times tables up to the double-digits. I'm a brave girl, I think. I'm not afraid of sneaking out or doing something like that. And I actually like horror stories!
I'm happy all the time. Mother says I'm 'optimistic'. I really like the world and I think it's a really fun place. I see the bright side. That's good isn't it? I love love love having friends. But I don't have a lot. I don't really love boys though, unlike most girls my age. They're smelly. But if they're just boy friends rather than boyfriends in one word, then I'm happy.
I have good things so I have to have bad things. But I support those things with pride, secretly. I guess I'm a bit naive. In two terms. I see things with a child-like nature. I'm a bit oblivious to the dangers around me. So I'm not good with right from wrong. I'm a bit guarded by my overprotective parents. That's why I'm not a strict believer of them. Mother tells me a lot of lies for my innocence. Also, I'm a teensy bit cynical sometimes. In the terms when someone will go let's do this, because I think they lie. I don't like thinking that all the time, though. But I can't help it.
History:
Chuckling, you deny the things people have claimed about her. She smiles and cocks her head a bit. Tell me, is your history happy? She laughs.
Yeah, it was really happy. I was born near the beach. My mum called me Saffron after her best friend, who disappeared. I'm not sure if it's an omen or not. Mother and Father made me stay at home with my big sister Genna when they went fishing. She is so pretty. She still looks after me a lot.
We're one of the richest families in the town, so we get a mansion. One day I found a fairy garden, though it didn't have real fairies. So that was awesome. I went there every day. Until Mother found out and grounded me. That was sucky. So I ran away. Every day for about 10 minutes. Genna started going out to find a husband so I was alone to see the flowers.
One day, I went to school. I forget what it's called. But Mother took me out because people were fighting a lot. And it put bad things in my mind. So I'm home schooled.
So, do you know anything about the Hunger Games? Do you ever worry about being reaped? Her grin expands. No, never. The Hunger Games aren't even real. I think. Mother told me they were horror stories, fiction. I think they'll never reap me because they're not real. But, every year since Gemma turned 12, I had to go to the square to watch this lady choosing people. Mother said that all those Hunger Games statements were for the chosen to be prettied up, like Halloween, and then put into a big pageant. You know, every year I hear heaps of screams on the telly. I don't know what it is, because Mother always makes me go to sleep and sleep through it till there's an interval from the cameras.
