Age: 17
Gender: Male
District/Area: District 8
Appearance:
Standing at six feet, four inches tall, Eli is taller than most of the people around him. He seems to be more intimidating because of it, and the 180 pounds of muscle and bone only help that image. With his father running a store in the center of the district, and a food selling store at that, Eli always had enough to eat. With the recent expulsion from that family, he is beginning to feel the effects of less food, but it hasn't had a major effect on him yet. He is still eating enough, but the quality isn't as good.
He always believed that to be a useful member of society, one had to be fit. Eli has been doing a small personal fitness routine every morning since he was 13, with about an hour of exercise on each day of the weekend. This, along with normal labor from lifting at his father's butcher shop, has helped keep him in pretty good shape.
His hair is blond and curly, and flows out quite a lot. His eyes are a dark blue, the color of blueberries. Their is a slight gap between two of his side teeth, and it is almost unnoticeable when looking at him head on. His nose is bent a bit to the left, a result of a fistfight where it was broken. The doctor misaligned it, and it has a slight curve because of it.
Personality:
Eli generally appears calm, and seems fairly normal on the outside. Once someone delves deeper into examining his thoughts and actions, a pattern emerges. This pattern is one of violence on little provocation, furious outbursts, and an overuse of "colorful" language when talking about mild annoyances. These outbursts have escalated since he beat his father into a coma. His coworkers have learned to deal with the outbursts, and just leave him alone when this happens.
He tends to be bold around people, but he isn't rude when not annoyed. He is generally calm and sensible, and is capable of carrying on an educated discussion. When he is in one of his moods, it is almost impossible to converse with him. This sometimes irritates people who don't know him, and has led mild disagreements to turn into violent fistfights.
He is shy around girls, and tends to be nervous when conversing around them. His dealings with females outside of his family have always been brief and business like. He has a few female friends, but isn't very close to them. They have all been close to other members of his family, the only way tat he knows them.
He is nervous around whips, stemming from the punishments he received as a child. The fear of whips often turns into a fear of whip-like objects. These can include belts, fishing rods, and other things, but only when held in a threatening manner.
History:
Eli was born to a relatively well-off family, and grew up always having enough to live on. The firstborn of the Jacquard family, he got the luxury of being trained to take up the family business. He was built up by his father to be the heir to the shop. When he was 2, his mother had fraternal twins, a boy and a girl. They didn't have much of an effect on his life, as he was still very young when they were born.Codeword: odair
Three years after the twins, another child was born, a baby girl. Eli was her protector, and he watched over her since the moment she was brought into their household. When she was scared at night, he would sit at the foot of her bed, and keep watch for the monsters until she fell asleep.
Eli never got along very well with his other brother, and they fought constantly. These minor scraps sometimes turned into major fights, resulting in broken furniture or fingers. Whenever this happened, their father would take them outside and beat them with a belt. Eli had a hard time not snapping, but he toughed it out. It was something they learned to live with, and Eli likes to believe that he's tougher because of it. His other sister stayed with his mother for the majority of her childhood, and learned to weave. As she was learning this, Eli learned how to butcher. He learned how to haggle, chop, and sneak in the occasional bit of wild game from a hunter.
Life went on like this until Eli was 16. His brother picked a fight with him, and his little sister tried to break it up. His father thought his sister was involved, and all three were beaten. Eli saw his father turn the belt on his baby sister, the person he loved more than anyone else, and he snapped. He beat his father into a catatonic state with a rock. His family was shocked, and after Eli was flogged by the peacekeepers, his mother forced him out of the house. He had next to nothing, and nowhere to go. He couldn't see his sister anymore, and the only job he could find was heavy lifting at a cloth manufacturing facility. He has been working there for a year now, and has become slightly respected amongst the other workers, despite being from the higher end of the district.
