Character Question!

Hi!
Am I allowed to change a characters biography? I want to rewrite it for my character, make it a little bit more interesting to read, and make the character just a little bit more extreme, because it would make RPing more fun! :)
The character would still look the same, have the same background, and pretty much the same personality, just that I might add and subtract something, and present my character in a better way :)
