It all happens so fast.
All of the sudden, Haysel has kicked Caldwell in the groin. She is holding my arm and we are running. We are running really fast. We are running from Caldwell. Tears stream down my face and my emotions twirl. I love Caldwell, at least I think I do, but I felt like for my own safety and sanity I needed to get away from him. My legs picked up once I had caught up with what was going on and I passed Haysel. She stopped and I came back to her panting. I wanted to be free, I wanted to run, but I wanted Haysel with me. I pat her on the back trying to get her to catch her breath faster. Footsteps trudged through the dense forest. Footsteps I'd know anywhere. Caldwell's footsteps.
He grabbed Haysel's hair with an iron grip, pulling her back into him. He screamed at her and I lunged for them despite Haysel's calls to run. Caldwell grabbed my arm as well and even though Haysel and I were fit wanderers not even the both of us could fight him off. He yanks on my arm to get me to calm down and he still grips Haysel's hair. I try to get to her, but he keeps us separated by his buff figure. He trudges through the forest, never letting go of either of us until we reach camp. We both struggle aimlessly. I wanted to get away now.
Caldwell pulls me back and then slams me into a tree, stunning me for a moment and making the world spin. He lashes Haysel around like a rag doll by her hair, leading her over to the tent. Ripping the rope that held it down he yelled and grumbled at her with more rage in his voice than I had ever heard. I thought about running, but I wasn't leaving Haysel, plus my legs refused to move. Caldwell quickly tied Haysel's hands around a tree. After her hands were tied he pushed on her head, forcing her to sit down. He came over to me and did the same, only with less force, but the knots still burned my hands. He also took the extra precaution to tie my legs together as well. He yanked on my hair, pulling my ear next to his lips. I don't mind to kill her if she runs, but you, you are to always live with me. he says with a menacing laugh. Tears and sweat pour down my face as I struggle against his impeccable knots. He hits me upside the head and yells for me to stop.
Quickly I avert my gaze to Haysel who is panting with anger, yet her eyes are scared. I close my eyes, afraid of what he might do.
