Haysel Dryfire
Everybody's waitin
For you to break down
Everybody's watchin
To see the fallout
Even when your sleepin sleepin
Keep your eye-eyes open
For you to break down
Everybody's watchin
To see the fallout
Even when your sleepin sleepin
Keep your eye-eyes open
Rain dripped down my face like tears, falling to the already mud-covered earth and barely noticed by anyone except maybe me. I looked up at the sky, wishing that the rain would stop soon. I slushed along the soggy ground, my boots making squishing sounds as the mud tried to hold them down and keep me pinned. I followed a path that I had traveled along the night before and had set a few traps, hoping that even in this weather I would find something. I noticed that three of my traps were triggered but only one of them still had prey in it. It became apparent that my traps had been raided by something, possibly a fox or wolf trying to find an easy meal in these wet and soggy conditions. The clouds above my head were dark gray and promised rain for at least a few more days before it would clear up. I released the prey, a small but fairly plump young rabbit, and began to gut it with my hunting knife. Once the rabbit was cleaned, I pulled out a small bundle of dry timbre from my pack and lit a small fire. This rain should hide the smoke I thought to myself, feeling reassured. I cooked the rabbit over the hot coals and ate a leg of it. The meat was nice and fatty, filling after a few days without a lot of food. I returned to my snares and examined the ground around them, trying to see if I could make out any paw prints of the thief who had made off with my catch. I was astonished to see, instead of paw prints, foot prints, human foot prints. A surge of panic swept through me as I imagined the peace keepers finding me here, out in the open where I was easy prey. I drew back into the shadow of the forest and that was when I saw her. Another wanderer by the looks of it and in her hands were a squirrel and another rabbit, their necks broken cleanly. I felt a surge of anger bubble up inside of me. "What, exactly, are you doing with my prey?" I asked, keeping my voice calm.[/center]
