There's a saying in D11. It goes "There's plenty of food in District 11, but most go hungry". There's a reason for that. It's called the Capitol. Once per week they seize most of whatever the people have produced, no matter how big or small. Today was no different, save for the fact that every third week they only use one wagon for some reason, and today is that third week. They would load up the food and then wagon it to the train and load it there for transport to the Capitol. It was simple and routine, so much so that the very path they traveled on was beaten down and easily marked by the wheels of many a wagon. This little tid bit of information is what Cody Long used to implement his scheme.
He was tired of being hungry, of starving. Cody had spent the entire week digging and laying his trap in place, his muscles were worked to the point of torpidness a thousand times over. Now he sat hidden in some woods on the outside of the small field, the voices inside his head chattering incessantly with giddiness. Not far from him, hidden better, was his trusty steed named "Horselee", which had three good sized sacks attached to either side of his saddle. The familiar sounds of running horses came into ear shot, alerting Cody that time was nigh, prompting him to go on high alert. Then they came, same as always, two Peacekeepers perched at the front of the wagon with one of the Capitol's envoys, and one in back guarding (and probably eating) the food. In a instant, the horses pulling the wagon fell into a deep hole in the ground, Cody having cleverly concealed it with like colored grass and wheel markings. Nobody could have known. The two Peacekeepers and the envoy fell into the pit with the horses, and started to get trampled around by the startled horses thrusting legs. The third Peacekeeper was flung out of the wagon as it snapped upward then came down to its natural resting position.
Cody whistled and his steed arrived. With haste, Cody jumped atop him and rode to the scene of the crash, where the Peacekeepers were shouting for help. It fell on deaf ears. Cody disembarked his living chariot and punt kicked the third Peacekeeper in the face, either knocking him out or killing him. From there, Cody yanked open the wagon and began loading the sacks with food, ignoring the Peacekeeper's pleas for aide. He couldn't care less. They were well fed and if they died today they would die on a full stomach, unlike him. As Cody continued to load down the sacks with food he began to stuff his face at the same time, having no patience to wait until the robbery was done.
What eluded Cody's plan was the possible repercussions for his actions, which would likely fall on the heads of his District rather than solely on him.
