As he continued to walk out of the woods, Trey tuned out Jumpy’s voice and ignored her protests. There was no way he was letting her walk all the way home on her ankle, whether she liked it or not, and she was going to have to deal. Rosie had made the bad decision to stick around in the tree too long, so she was not going to make the decisions anymore. Besides, she weighed practically nothing; it was like carrying a twig. A really stubborn, jumpy, noisy (pretty) twig.
Trey sighed. He wished she’d just be quiet and enjoy the scenery before her blabbing attracted another bear. It was strange; it seemed like any other girl would be all for this idea- lots of girls fawned over Trey. But Jumpy seemed pretty opposed to the idea. Then again, she wasn’t at all like the other girls he had met. From his experience, females didn’t like to hang around in trees too much.
”Do you even know how mad my Dad will be? I'm already in enough trouble for the sprained ankle.”
Her words broke through the mental barrier he had put up against her complaints. Remembering what she had said earlier, about her dad sending him, Trey wondered what was up with her father. She didn’t seem to think too highly of him, whatever it was. Why would he be mad at his daughter for spraining her ankle? And why would he be upset at a nice young gentleman for doing the right thing and carrying her home? After all, he had only been trying to help. Oh well. He couldn’t be too bad, if he’d raised a nice girl like Rose.
“Don’t worry about me,” Trey reassured her. ”I don’t know who your father is, but I’ve already faced a bear today. He can’t be much worse, right? Besides, if he gets up in my face I still have one shoe left to throw at him.” he laughed heartily.
”Where do you live, anyway?” he asked as they reached the fence. Stooping to the ground, he let her off his back so she could crawl through the hole he’d come through.
OOC: Ugh. Short Post. My muse is drained.
