Up. Down. Up. Down. Up. Down… Poseidon’s body moved in likeness with the waves lapping at the shoreline. His effortless movements taking him through the flow of a strenuous exercise. The only sign of exertion was visible by his hair being matted to his forehead by sweat. To another passerby Poseidon would look incomprehensibly foreign to his setting. For one, he was switching off between working out and (If the onlooker was knowledgeable) going through a series of fluid movements which help with breathing and the flow of blood. Secondly; Poseidon maintained an impassively serene face, as if he were simply out for a cup of tea. To top off the increasingly odd sight he was doing this in midday, with a radiant sun made ravenously fierce by the reflecting waves around him. To be fair, Poseidon never did consider himself normal.
Upon the ending of his routine he simply stood up straight- a startling sight for those who knew his age, given just how tall the boy was. With a very exaggerated roll of his shoulders, accompanied by some twisting, turning, and bending, he fell straight back to the ground; landing with a resounding thud. Poseidon watched the sprawling sky that was seemingly just above his nose. The clouds crept along at a tortoise’s pace as if to prove how slow the winds were on this fine day. Normally on a day like this Poseidon would be out by his fathers side, racking in glorious amounts of the sea’s bounty. However today was one of those rare exceptions when his father snuck out of the house and took the boat out alone. Poseidon always knew when his father would do it, and it was only the reason why he would that kept Poseidon from stopping him. After all, everyone needed to be alone once in awhile. Closing his eyes, Poseidon reverted into the basic of senses listening to the lulling tide accompanied by the ever so subtle caress of the passing wind. Poseidon slipped into a void he would never try to fill.
Some hours later he woke seemingly calm, though whoever was gifted enough to sit inside his mind would painfully realize otherwise. He flashed a smile to the sea to wipe away the internal storm and leaned himself up off the sand. “Whatever am I going to do with you father.” He mumbled barely audible, as if the sea itself were straining for his conversation. With the piercing eyes he was gifted he gazed into the magnificent horizon were the sky and sea crashed together in a swirl of planes that was never meant for humans to traverse. While he sat there seemingly blank of all around him other than that gorgeous horizon, his mind rolled with thoughts and ideas, plotting out humanity and all of its workings. If nothing else, Poseidon was going to understand the vast world, and he was going to love it for all of its flaws.
