The Konstantine family runs the local library where the more ambitious students of District Eight gather after school to study. These study groups are a haphazard tangle of friendships and drama, as everyone attempts to balance their social lives with their schoolwork. For each camaraderie formed, another set of personalities will clash... but: shhhh. Please, keep your voices down. Some of us are actually trying to read.ANDORRA SHILOH KONSTANTINE // HOUSE OF LEAVES
(Female, 13, Kim Yoo Jung FC) [Lalia]
Andorra is based off Mark Z. Danielewski's House Of Leaves, except instead of being lost in a labyrinthine house, she's lost in her own imagination and is in love with the Man In The Moon. I'm going to attempt to write her posts in the same format as her bio: a maze of footnotes and asides. She is energetic and outgoing when she can get out of her own head, but often feels ignored and so she finds ways to amuse herself instead.
CHARLOTTE "CHARLIE" KONSTANTINE // PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER
(Female, 17, Moon Geun Young FC) [Lalia]
Charlie is based off Stephen Chbosky's Perks Of Being A Wallflower, except instead of writing letters containing all her secrets to a stranger, she writes her letters in the margins and between the text of the most neglected, forgotten library books she can find. I'm going to attempt to write her posts in the same format as her bio: first person letters. She has a blood disease and is often frustrated by her own limitations, yet because of them she tends to appreciate small moments more than most people. She is often incredibly melodramatic in her own head, but tries to downplay everything to the people around her.
NIKOLAI "NIKO" ARIS KONSTANTINE // CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE
(Male, 18, Jung Il Woo FC) [Lalia]
Niko is based off Choose Your Own Adventure style books, except instead of traveling through space or being a super cool spy, he's just really indecisive about getting around District Eight. I'm going to attempt to write his posts in the same format as his bio: with multi-option endings. When he's not avoiding Andorra (he's extremely uncomfortable about knowing that she was born for the medical benefit of Charlotte), he tends to be a lighthearted flirt who gets himself into trouble for only being able to think one step ahead instead of two.
STANLEY SCHUSTER // COMIC BOOKS
(Male, 18, Matt Prokop FC) [Charade]
Each of his posts will be written as a self contained excerpt from a comic book issue. Stan is a paranoid and careful kind of dude who is always trying to see the bigger picture and suspects that something sinister that no one knows about is going on.
AGATHA BLYTON // COOKBOOKS
(Female, 18, Lily Loveless FC) [Clover]
Based off cookery and recipe books, Agatha is calm and measured. The responsibility of her younger siblings was largely left to her after her younger sister was stolen and her mother refused to stop waiting. She can't stop herself from worrying and fretting over their safety or working as hard as she possibly can to keep them all fed. She's kind-hearted but incredibly blunt with her disapproval.
RUTHIE BLYTON // ALPHABET BOOKS
(Female, 17, Hannah Murray FC) [Clover]
Based off children's alphabet books, Ruthie is spontaneous and unpredictable. After the disappearance of her sister as a small child, she because obsessed with the idea of disappearing, too. She's lighthearted and playful with a tendency to climb as high as she possibly can and fling herself to the ground. She's never once managed to fly yet, but she's determined.
BEATRICE ESCOTT // WIP // A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS
(Female, 17, Stacey Grant FC) [Shrimp]
TRIUMPH O'BRIAN // CATCHER IN THE RYE
(Male, 17, Cole Mohr FC) [Zori]
ALMYRA KAYLOCK // GRIMM'S FAIRY TALES
(Female) [Penny]
IZZABEL MCKENZIE BENNET // WIP // PRIDE AND PREJUDICE
(Female, 18) [Dreamer]
INDIANA STERLING // STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS
(Male, 16, Choi Min Ki FC) [Elegant]
Indiana Sterling is based off of the Stream of Conscience writing genre. Young people specifically tend to go through their beginnings not one hundred percent sure of who they actually are, and Indiana magnifies this in particular. He's got the body of a boy, but the features of a girl, and he has no idea of who he is yet. In the most honest way possible, reading him should be like looking into his brain. Written in the traditional stream of conscience way, he can be sometimes difficult to completely understand for the lack of grammar, punctuation, and the easy slip into different streams of thought.
All characters involved will be based off books, literary genres, etc and I highly encourage experimental bios and posting formats that play off these concepts. This plot is not so much about recreating a character from a book as it is about capturing the essence of a book (or book genre) in and of itself. Think (but don't limit yourself to):A dictionary or encyclopedia character, with a definition heading each post as a theme. The challenge is in how many different ways you can use a word within a single post.Cookbook entries, where they write recipes for things like angst or laughter. (To make: Awkward Situation, Preparation time: 40 minutes, Serves: The strange boy next door and yourself.)Poetryor limericks. (Shel Silverstein anyone?!)
Naked Lunch character, where you write the post and then randomize the order of the paragraphs before posting it.Instructional manuals — with a step-by-step walk through for your character's thoughts and actions.Who dunnit murder mysteries, where each post is a clue to some epic conspiracy theory. You know you grew up wanting to be Nancy Drew or Harriette The Spy.Fairy tales, where your character is the melodramatic hero or heroine for every situation life has to offer.Textbooks with question and answer sections.Alphabet books, noir genre, "For Dummies" books,Gossip Girl, horror stories, ETC. Let your imagination run wild.
(Thank you to Meg and Clover for brainstorming with me. <3)
This is a first come, first serve plot. Anyone may sign up, however, I'm only going to allow one character to represent each book. (Note: you may claim a book within a taken genre or the genre of a taken book.) Pre-existing characters may be used if they fit the concept of the plot. You may have more than one character, if you'd like.Make A Reservation: (No more than two or three at a time, please.)[b]Your name[/b]:
