{ brooklyn cedar sparks }"bad isn't bad if it makes you feel so good."
------------------------------------------------------------------
[ appearance ]
With a height of 5'7'' and a light weight of 117lbs, Brooklyn would be considered just underweight under BMI standards. The muscle that she does have isn't very apparent but there's no fat either. Her skin is colored with a slight tan, probably thanks to the workout sessions outdoors. Standing up straight most of the time, Brooklyn has been told she has a fairly good posture. Her arms or legs don't appear too long, looking to be how they should be for her body type and height. She doesn't dislike how she looks at all but she isn't exactly the biggest fan of it, wishing to be more like the other girls in her District who are a bit larger, yet still attractive. Considering she's usually the one dishing insults, she sometimes wishes that she looked a bit tougher.
Thick blonde hair cascades down her round but gaunt face, ending with darker brown hair around the bottom. Her cheekbones are really high, one of the main parts of her face that define who she is. Her eyes are colored a light blue, often appearing gray under some lighting. She surrounds them with a soft lining of dark eyeliner that her mother keeps in their bathroom. She uses it sparingly though because it could be their last. A small nose takes up next to no room on her face, ending with a rounded point and two small nostrils. Her luscious lips sit underneath her nose, making her face look proportional, hiding off white teeth behind them. One corner is often pulled up, creating a smirk that seems to be both cute and threatening at the same time. As for her eyebrows, they are thin and curved up around her eyes. Her cheeks are covered with light freckles, still giving youth to her face. She is often sporting a scowl when roaming the streets with her friends.
The female chest is often described by some males as their best part. In that case, Brooklyn would be favored by males. Larger than an average for her age, she often wears certain shirts just to show off the assets she has. Her shoulders are soft and thin, branching off into arms which will be described later. Her stomach is flat and smooth, thanks to being underweight. Ribs can be seen fairly well when looking at her bare torso, something that not many people have done or will be able to do. She likes to hide that area so people don't know about her being underweight. As for her hips, they aren't too large but she still does have curves there too. Her hip bones protrude quite a bit, just adding to the whole appearance of being lower than she should be in the weight department.
Her arms are also thin and they stretch out fairly long, ending with small hands and delicate fingers. Dotted in freckles, her arms have very little hair. Which is normal for her family as they were never a hairy female. Even her father had a minimum amount on his arms. Her palm is soft and smooth, sometimes moist from perspiration. They are warm and comforting but she rarely is found holding hands with anybody. Her nails would be smooth as well but instead the edges are rough and chipped, either from biting them as a nervous habit or from all the rough things she's usually doing as a bully. Her legs are the same, long and thin. Dotted with freckles and free of hair, this time due to bringing a razor to it every once in a while. They end with small feet, tiny toes poking out from her foot. She has very flat feet and the skin is often rough and bruised on the base because of this.
Sandals or running shoes are the main thing she wears on her feet. Only on special occasions could she be seen in high dress shoes and she'd be seen in boots while doing work. Tight pants or shorter shorts was what she would often wear and she'd stay far away from any kind of dress or skirt as she believes they are too 'girly'. Her shirts are often simple t-shirts, showing off as much cleavage as possible or she'll wear button up shirts. She only has one jacket, a soft, long one that she'll wear during the winter months. Scarves are often tied around her neck during the colder months too but never when the sun is hot and burning down. As for accessories, she is usually wearing a light chain necklace around her thin neck and one small ring on her right hand. As for hats, it is extremely rare to find her in one but she does own a white baseball cap.
[ personality ]
She isn't exactly the nicest person to know. Whether it's because of her sarcastic attitude or her cold words, she is kind of a bitch. Brooklyn seems to benefit from being mean to others, often enjoying being a jerk. Brooke is seen as a bad girl as she often disobeys the rules and doesn't really care about the punishment or consequences that could probably follow. Most people have a better day when they help somebody else by making their day better. Brooklyn is the opposite, her day being made if she knows that she ruined somebody else's. The worst part of this is that she actually believes that what she does is alright and isn't actually so bad because it's better than killing somebody or doing something sick like that. Although, if it came down to it she'd probably kill too if it meant she could benefit.
Being in a group of other people who are similar has made Brooke feel that she is somewhat normal. Her friends, who are also bullies, are who she cares for the most. Probably the only people she actually cares about considering she generally has a hatred for the rest of the world. But that's because of her upbringing. She grew up being told that she was the best and that she would succeed in life while everybody else either died in the Hunger Games or became absolutely nothing. The money that she grew up with proved that. Her parents, who were very rich people and members of the mayor's staff, turned her into a snob which was probably the root of why she became such a bitch. Everybody else was second place when it came to her in her mind, except for the few friends she has who she considered to be tied with her.
She also learned that if she presented herself to males with a flirtatious personality or by showing off her assets, she'd be able to get what she wanted. This has given her high expectations and she always expects to get what she wants too. And if she doesn't, she'll keep up the flirtatious attitude and do whatever you want to get her way. But, she isn't a slut at all. Brooklyn is still a complete virgin, having never actually done anything. Even though she might show otherwise, Brooke is a hopeless romantic, wanting somebody to come by and sweep her off her feet. She wants somebody who doesn't want her for sex or for looks, instead somebody who wants to wake up to her every morning with a smile, to bring her to the hill to watch the sun set and rise or to just snuggle close with when the nights are cold. But, with her bitchy attitude, nobody has really gotten close enough to be like this.
Brooklyn is definitely a Career. However, she isn't the brute force kind, instead sticking with being mentally strong. Calculative and aggressive, Brooklyn is the stereotypical career. She's cold and cruel, often focusing solely on being the best at things so she could be the one to 'win' in things against others. Sometimes vicious and arrogant, Brooke doesn't let anybody get in her way of becoming something or somebody who matters. And if that happens, she has no issue voicing it by starting confrontation. She could be seen as confrontational and tough, but that doesn't bother her because as long as it keeps people from messing with her, she doesn't care. As long as she is seen as being on the top and being the one who people should listen to, she doesn't care how bad people think she is.
But Brooklyn does have a soft spot. The spot is her little brother, Harlem, who suffers from a disorder and from being deaf. He means the world to her and she does everything for him, even if she'll try and deny it. Being a bitch is the only way she can protect him from how scary life is and he's the only motivation for her to hold onto life instead of letting peer pressure claim her and joining a life of drugs and alcohol. Harlem means the world to her and he's the only one she'll let in because she doesn't want to possibly lose another person by letting them in to. She does everything she can to help the boy but there's only so much she can do at her age. Recently, she has been really close to him since finding out that he doesn't have much time left. But she isn't ready for the day that he does die. And she doesn't think she'll ever be.
[ history ]
Deklan Sparks and Minnie Brown grew up in rich families too, being a part of an organized marriage in the end to keep the money going. They started as just that, not really sharing any feelings for the other and only doing it to please their parents. But, as the days went by and they had to spend more and more time together, they fell completely in love. That's when they had their first child, Brooklyn. She grew up with the intense love of her parents, always wishing to some day have a relationship like their's. When Brooklyn turned nine, the second child came. Harlem was immediately the center of attention in the family for one reason and one reason only. Harlem suffered from a mental disability, learning things at a slower rate and having a mindset of somebody much younger than him. While the first months were rough, the next few years were torture when Harlem's hearing went out.
Having to learn sign language at a young age as well as going through school and training was tough for Brooklyn. She loved her brother and wanted him to have a life that was just as good as hers. And the fact that her parents began to focus their attention on Brooke more instead of caring about the one who needed it was what started her attitude. She began to claim that she was a bitch because she could be around the age of ten, when it was actually because of being treated like the best and because she needed to be for her brother. When her parents wouldn't protect him, she'd need to. Brooklyn never really loved anybody except for her family. Mainly her brother, who she'd stay up every night for, rocking him in her arms until he fell asleep. She'd sign him stories just so that he could sleep well.
She was troubled. And the only way she could cover that up was to become a bitch and a mean person. She started training in the center when she turned eleven, wielding many different weapons so she was ready for anything. That's where she met most of her friends, the ones that she sticks together with to this day. They formed a sort of gang, bullying others so that they could get pleasure or get what they wanted. They'd train together and roam the streets together, just looking for trouble. Slowly, day by day, Brooklyn was pulled away from her family and her brother as she ventured further and further into the bad side of life. She never tried drugs or drank, for the most part, only being a bully and sneaking around in places she shouldn't have been. Her family didn't care though. To them, she was the perfect little princess. And to her brother, she was the best person in the world.
When she turned sixteen, his condition got worse. He began to get really sick on random occasions, sometimes taking weeks and weeks to recover. But it never stopped. Just when he stopped feeling under the weather, it would start up again. And just when it seemed like he couldn't beat it, he did. But it wasn't something to be happy about when you expected it to come back twice as bad. And it did, every single time. It only calmed down when the boy turned eight, announcing when Brooke would turn seventeen. The weeks of being sick were gone, allowing him time to rest. But the doctor's words still rang in Brooke's head every night as she held her brother's hand as he slept. "I'd give him a few months to live." The disorder was actually a disease. And she had no way of helping him.
That was a month ago. Brooklyn hadn't changed throughout the time, still being a royal bitch to everybody but Harlem. It was how she was now. She had loved one person and one person only and now he was supposed to die any day. The pain was unbearable for Brooklyn so she kept it hidden behind her personality, just wanting for everything to be alright so her brother could live. Every morning, she'd wake up and hope he would still be there. And every night when she saw his eyes close, she prayed it wouldn't be the last time. And the only hope she had was for some sort of surgery to fix it. But who was she kidding. They only had enough to pay for what they needed and some things they wanted. The surgery to help was way too much. And that's why she fought harder in training, wanting to become the best at what she could. Because the Hunger Games might mean the death of her but they could also mean life for Harlem, if she played them right. But she didn't care. As long as he didn't die. That's all she wants.
