Jacob walked down the hallway quietly, trying to avoid waking up his neighbors. He was sure that they wouldn't apreciate that. Especially now, considering that Jacob is apparently the biggest nuisance in the entire apartment. That may have something to do with him accidentally breaking a window or two. Or three. But still, the floor creaked, and the door screeched as it opened. Jacob winced as he carefully closed it once more. It was a shock to feel the cold air whipping his face. It was supposed to be summer! As if the Capitol wasn't bad enough, it looks like Mother Nature is in on it too.
He squinted, looking straight up at the sky. That was pointless, considering that the sun was completely blocked by the smoke. You see, Jacob lived in the worst part of District 3; directly South of the factories. Their columns would continuously expel black smoke that covered the sky in Jacob's neighborhood. It was a tragedy, really. No sun. A lack of Vitamin D was common in his area. As Jacob thought about all of this, he buried his neck within the warmth of his jacket. It really was a windy morning. With the Reaping soon, a cold was the last thing he needed. The wind was pretty awful. It felt as though he was drowning in air.
Jacob sighed and continued his walk. Moping wouldn't help, when has it ever? This walk has become tradition for him. He would take an hour-long walk every morning at 6:00 A.M. to the Town Square when it was never crowded. He always seemed to get less weary after doing this. Needless to say, Jacob needed this walk. In any case, Jacob soon arrived at his destination. He was in the Square, a less smoggy center of operations for the District. He stepped around some of the cobblestone and took in the refreshing sun. Of course the richer residents would get to enjoy the big ball of fire. They were rich. Jacob looked at some of the shops until he finally found it. His mother's old knick-knack shop. He felt a twinge of sadness arise from deep within his stomach. He made a small smile and walked away, sighing. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea... Jacob needed to sit down. He quickly found a water fountain and sat down on the edge.
(OOC: I am so sorry about the choppiness! I had to write it all on mobile...)
