Dittany Briar Gray, District 11

Dittany is a pretty girl, with most average District Eleven Traits. One of the exceptions to her average enough physical traits, is her skin. It is tan-- after so many days of wokring on fields, how could it not be--but slightly paler than a few of her peers. This is one of the things Dittany (or Briar) has always been ashamed as, as it makes her unusual. Her hair is brown with lighter highlights and a darker undertone. It falls in waves down her back, just below her shoulder-blades, as it never grew any longer. Dittany has gray eyes, although from afar they appear to be near black. They are the most dazzling trait Dittany has, and one of the only things she admires about herself. Dittanys is a willowy girl, and by no way seems as strong as she trully is. Her body is delicate looking but, the girl could probablly throw somebody across a room.

Dittany is a sly girl--raised to always look out for herself first then for others. Her mother died a few years ago, but Dittany was able to stay at home simply because of her older sister, Ash. The teen often comes home to an empty house as her sibling is madly in love with some boy. Ever since she was thirteen it has been this way, and Dittany has been raised in silence. Shes rather smiley and loves people, its an odd thing that she would most likely put her own life above anothers, yet she still manages to be so genuine and kind. Like most District 11 inhabitants, Dittanys is often caught climbing trees and singing in her free time or while she helps out with the crops. Shes a peaceful person who has always taken everything easily from her fathers death at age four to her mothers death at twelve, to her near abandoning by her older sister now. Dittany doesnt hold grudges.

The clever part of Dittany doesnt see the light of day often, but when it does--chaos follows. Too wise, to sharp, to calculating to be such a young girl, it is obvious Dittany has a competitive streak and when faced with something quiet serious, must win. Some of this side of her carries into her every day person, her demanding, stubborn, gaze--the way she even holds herself. Dittany is a girl wise beyond her years, a dangerous trait to have as it also gives her a sense of entitlement.

Dittany Briar Gray was born to Johnathon Michael Gray and Lilac Fields Gray. She was the younger of their children--Ash Midnight Gray being four at the time of her sister birth. Dittany was raised in a house full of song and light. Her father died when she was four, but Lilac Gray never let that keep her down--around the children. Ash and Dittany were raised to see life as part of death and it was only a few months until they were back to normal, music and all. Dittany though felt a twinge of grief every now and then, and often climbed trees as her escape as they are plentiful in District 11. For years Dittany was the center of the world, everybody liked her, or even loved her. When her mothers unexpected death occured, twelve year old Dittany was in denial. She feared having to join the rest of the orphaned children, but Ash put up a fight, earning the right to keep her younger sister and her from that fate if she were to work extreme hours, keep them up to a certain weight, and out of trouble. The truth was, over-crowding--the sisters freedom was only because there was not enough room for them. Ash took her mothers death harder than Dittany, but like her late mom stayed strong for her sister. Dittany recovered slowly, though the light and music in her life faded just after her mom died. She escapes her life and climbs her loved trees more often.

Depending on who it is, she will ask a person to call her Dittany or Briar.
