Arizona Klane walked tiredly back from working. Her light brown eyes were dull and barely open. She plopped in the dirt, setting down her axe carefully as she did so. Her hand swept over her head, wiping off sweat and dirt. She was tired and very hungry.
She thought of the games, she couldn't believe there was only one more District 7 tribute left. She twiddled with her fingers, wondering if she might make it even to the second day. She thought about for a little bit and decided she could make it to do five. Though in a way she hoped she got put in, that way she could possibly win and not have to work so hard. But of course the thought of being slaughtered by another kid made her shiver. She wasn't sure she could kill anyone, but realistically she would if she ever got in the arena.
The 15 year old heard a rustle in a bush by her and jolted up, a squirrel came running out and climbed up a tree. She was scared of a squirrel, she gave a sigh and plopped back down. "Great... Change that to I would survive until day two..." Arizona muttered to herself and got up. As she did she kicked at the dirt. She finally gave up, though she was doing really nothing.
Slowly she picked up her axe and looked around, she was bored. Not exactly sure what to do she went to her house and set her axe down to where she usually set it down. She walked out of her house and looked around, still not sure what to do and still rather bored...
She walked towards a tree she liked climbing and looked around, she saw no one. Quickly she started climbing it, using the branches to help her up she kept climbing. Her hand reached up and grasped a branch but she heard a crack and it snapped, falling down to the ground below her. Quickly she grabbed another branch that she could hold onto.
Arizona got pretty high and decided to stop. She found a steady branch, it was stable enough to lean on. She got comfy in the branch, looking down she smiled. She was high and it felt rather relaxing, it felt like she wasn't in the district. A bird tweeted behind her and she let out a little laugh.
Once she got comfortable she pulled out her book and started reading. She just kept reading, she didn't notice anyone around her so she just kept reading and reading and reading... It was a book she was assigned for school so she figured she might as well finish it.
