Bursting at the Seams
Gorging on Wealth and Praise
Some may Call it Greed
I Call this Living
When she is
When she thinks
“When she speaks”
When others interrupt
The thing about the world is that nothing is really predictable. One may think they know it all, have a good grasp on reality, but there is always something else to learn. Felicity, however, believed she didn't need to learn anything else. Life was already easy enough to learn and hold onto. All someone needed to do, for Felicity, was keep people. If you could hold onto them forever then there was no need to let them go. If there were more to it, then I don't care to know it. This was all Felicity needed. People who would do things for her, and then not complain when she would do things for them. And she really loved doing things for people. Especially the easy things, like pleasing a boy. They were easy enough to control. And how easy they were. They would smile just for a touch, and keep begging her for more. Felicity loved that, and she wanted to get someone else attached to her.
All the current boy toys were too easy to understand now. She knew exactly what they wanted and there were no surprises. Why couldn't those boys try harder? Felicity wanted someone who could show her a different time, a different light. Lately all she could think about was the sister who left her. Passion... And it wasn't out of pity, no, it was out of anger and jealousy. The sister did what she wanted when she wanted, and proved that she didn't need the attachments. Felicity was stuck wanting to be with people more and more each day. Without being surrounded, she felt alone and useless. And this was one of those times. No one was available, off doing something else or another.
You don't leave the queen unattended.
She brushed her hair a bit, looked out at the cooling night air, and came to the right conclusion: Felicity needed someone new. She had to cover the grounds when it was only her. There had to be someone that Felicity could call on when alone. A boy, or a girl, it didn't matter. She had to have someone there for whatever reason. And maybe they needed someone for them too. I could do that, I could be there someone. She slipped into a dress, a bit revealing on the front, and turned toward the mirror to look at herself. Violet always looked good in contrast with the blond hair.
“Dazzle them,” Felicity said, pinning up her hair and flattening her dress. “Mom always said that would make them look.”
She touched up her face with some make-up last, trying to keep a bright image up, and headed out the door. The crisp autumn air blanketed her body, covering her with chills from her feet toward her hair. It was the perfect evening. Most people preferred this temperature over the warmth. I couldn't ever guess why. The warm air was more suiting to Felicity. She could get away with dressing up less and showing off what could be offered. Here, in this weather, she had to cover up and keep clear of the cold air. Felicity knew that it hardly changed a thing though. Her body wasn't too hidden and people would still get the picture. I'm just looking for a little bit of company.
And she bumps into someone, a boy from town, who seems a bit annoyed and agitated about something. Felicity scoffs, looking at the boy with horrible eyes. “Hey, watch where the hell you're going!” She didn't have time to be worrying over some trivial thing, she wanted some company for the night. “You know it's impolite to run into a lady, right?”
