[/blockquote][/justify]Ten families. Ten lost souls. Twenty lives wasted, and ten children abandoned in their homes. The death of their last remaining parent is what ties these broken children together. Born with only one parent, each of them were raised in a single parent’s household - some widowed, some divorced, some never discovering love in the first place - and found themselves face-to-face with a gravestone displaying the carved name of this beloved parent. These doomed adults had labored for hours with aching and creaking bones to support their children in the exact same textile factory, until they suffered the submission of their own lives to the same accident that wreaked havoc in this building promising safety and sanctuary. Ten bodies were scorched in the vicious flame that engulfed the factory, and ten children were left to fend for themselves with only their own job to bring forth meager income. Eventually, they realized it was not enough, but with these ten pairs of eyes sharing the same sights at the same funerals there was an invisible thread tied to each of them, binding them together until as ten separate units they realized what they were meant to do. They were meant to do what was necessary for survival. They were meant to take risks and break laws even when some possessed the morals that tried to tie them down. These morals, however, had limits, and even those with them knew that their hearts would not heal, nor would their lives be magically turned right side up again. That day, when ten minds clashed to form an unforgettable idea, a band of thieves was born, and these thieves would resort toalmostanything to ensure their own survival.
Note: The following characters are based off of characters in the novel series “GONE” by Michael Grant. However, it is not required that you know or read the series to apply for this plot, though I will favor those who have. Thank you.
Nathaniel Peyton - 17 - [open]
Nathan is the selected leader of the group - or so they once thought. He was one of few present at the factory when the flames somehow erupted and killed his mother, back when he had been a light-hearted and content teenager, though he had merely been venturing outside the building to bring his mother her lunch when it happened. His heroic actions dashing inside to help save people injured and trapped from the spreading fire are what lead the group to (for the most part) electing him as their official leader. Unfortunately, Nathan doesn’t cope well with having so many responsibilities, and although he is brave and determined enough to help his comrades the stress is beginning to slowly take its toll on him. Evelyn is one of few who can successfully motivate him, and it is no secret that this motivation arises from his affection toward her. The motivation can only last so long, though, for dealing with the group’s fragility and misbehavior is starting to make him feel increasingly irritated as the days drag on.
Evelyn “Eve” St. Michaels - 16 - [open]
Ask anyone, and they’ll tell you Eve is a genius. Before the fire, she received the highest marks in her school and was regarded as one of the most intelligent girls anyone had ever met in district eight. Science, mathematics, problem-solving, and logic are her greatest companions, and she uses them quite often during her new lifestyle as a bandit. She is the planner, the one everyone consults when a new idea comes to mind. Her mutual passionate feelings for Nathan are no secret either, however there is always one person she will put first before anybody else, and that is her autistic younger brother. Fellow group members constantly judge him for who he is and consider him a hassle when she drags him along because she cant find a babysitter that day, but despite everything she loves him dearly, and it is for him that she fights against her morals to stay pure and clean people of their money and belongings every day. It is faith that also drives her forward - faith in a higher power indirectly affecting their lives, and faith that the group can achieve harmony and turn their lives into something positive again.Little does she know, even with this hope and faith in hand, she is far out of her league.
Ivan Solomon - 17 - [Reserved for Lei]
Ivan has been best friend’s with Nathan since the dawn of time, but unlike him, he does not handle devastation very well. The death of his mother in the fire scarred him in a way so severe that the others could not compare, and when he was invited to become a bandit he was extremely hesitant. Others would consider him cowardly for the way he acts; too frightened to use a weapon, panicking when their lives were in danger and even crying when asked to hold just a weapon in case danger approached. If the time ever arrived that he would have to act and save the life of a friend, Ivan would bee too confused and too terrified to do anything but save his own skin and turn his back on his friends, however with these actions would come a wave of guilt too powerful to leave him incapable of helping entirely. He relies on Nathan’s guidance to participate successfully in the group, but although he still tries to see Nathan as a friend the two have grown apart since the formation of the group, especially after Nathan grew more attached to Evelyn while he seemed more fond of Alana.
Alana Lepage - 16 - [Reserved for Wonder]
Alana, like Nathan, was present during the fire that killed their parents, but unlike him she had been inside of the building when it happened. She had seen things, heard things that continue to haunt her until this day. Voices, screams, it all took a toll on her. However, Alana is a as lethal and powerful as a bullet, and she does not allow the nightmares to hinder her. She is brave, she is tough, and she will never hesitate to use a weapon if the situations calls for it. She is regarded as the “healer” of the group, the extensive medical knowledge of her mother being passed down to her before she had perished. She is the one to consult when somebody receives an injury during a break-in, such as a laceration from broken class, or a ankle twisted during action. She prefers to spend more time by herself, especially in the presence of cigarettes - her new addiction - for she feels independent and responsible enough to take care of herself. She continues to stick with the group, though, because she knows some of them rely on her and appreciate her help, and although the responsibility of helping them can become a consistent annoyance, she always feels obligated to participate.
Caspian Beaumont - 17 - [Reserved for Rook]
Charming, charismatic, and seemingly able to obtain anything he desires, Caspian is Nathan’s competition when it comes to who will lead the group, and how. He constantly tries to interrupt Nathan’s speeches with his own outburst of ideas and potential plans, all of which tend to severely disagree with what Nathan has in mind. He is very greedy and a bit too vain for his own good, possessing a royalty-complex that tricks him into believing he can be a king. He does not care for the well-being of anybody but himself and Carressa, whom he is in love with (if one can call it love), and therefore his plots and intentions are crueler in comparison to Nathan‘s, some even dangerous when his decisions are influenced by the malevolent sadist Steele, who is practically his right-hand man. Because of his constant disagreement with Nathan and his friends, the group seems to be slowly drifting apart, with two sides instead of one, but with Caspian’s group growing too dangerous for Nathan to ignore.
Steele Mailloux - 16 - [Reserved for Cass]
There was always something oddly dark lurking within this boy’s unstable mind, and it was evident since the day he was born. He was always a bully, always unsympathetic, always hurting people and animals for the sake of a good laugh - a sadist at heart. He was only invited to join the bandits because of his situation, and because Caspian had a keen interest in his abilities, taking advantage of the boy’s instability, impulsiveness, and boldness. Little did he know, Steele is a bit too unstable to be controlled completely, and rather than remaining loyal to Caspian he would rather remain loyal only to himself. He secretly works alongside Caspian to formulate plans, all of which never just involve stealing people’s belongings, and while he is still a member of the group his cruel and sick tendencies grow more obvious as their adventures continue, making everybody wary of his presence, especially Evelyn and Carressa, of whom he seems to have a sadistic fixation on.
Carressa Dawn - 16 - [open]
Caspian’s loyal assistant and object of affection, Carressa is perhaps too beautiful for her own good, though she tends to cancel this out with her somewhat intolerable personality. She never ceases to give Caspian a hard time with sarcastic and snarky remarks, knowing very well that he finds her attractive and desirable, and uses his weakness for her as an advantage to protect herself, especially from Steele, who she will never hesitate to launch a nasty insult or clever remark at. She is uncertain of her own feelings toward Caspian, though she believes she does care about him and like him in some way. Caspian’s two deadly sins pride and greed, however, turn her in the other direction, and perhaps she may stray too far away from him if he continues to focus too intensely on himself rather than everyone else. Despite her magnetic attraction to Caspian, she is a neutral member of the group and will participate in any plot as long as she approves of it. For the most part, she has favored Nathan’s plans over Caspian’s, what with Caspian’s being influenced by selfishness and Steele’s sinister input, but she yet to display any disloyalty to Caspian regardless. Not yet.
Stasia Striker - 15 - [Reserved for Python]
Pathetically obsessed is one way to describe this disturbed child. At first glance, she seemed sweet, innocent, even a bit pretty, but after joining the group it became clear that she was none of these things. Her crush on Caspian, which may just develop into an absolute obsession, drives her to remain completely loyal to him under any circumstances, making her very useful to him yet also an unbelievable nuisance. She is dangerously envious of Carressa, knowing that Caspian is infatuated by the girl’s beauty despite her somewhat crude demeanor, and tends to display violent behavior as a result. She is growing increasingly stranger and crueler as the blades of rejection continue to stab at her weak little heart, and she may just snap the day she realizes her body can’t handle the stress anymore. Lately, noticing that Steele is perhaps more desirable and even a bit similar to her (though she is out of her league when it comes down to brute strength), she has been gravitating toward him lately, and the cycle of obsession may just continue.
Arianna Elwood - 14 - [Reserved for Danny]
Cockiness and arrogance are two personality flaws most people would want to avoid, but for this speedy little girl, they are a part of her everyday life. Not only is Arianna overconfident in her ability to play the hero and become the most useful member of the group, but she is also justified in her boastful behavior and the last girl to back down from a plan or a fight. She is an extremely athletic girl with the quickest legs any of them have even seen, and it is for this reason she considers herself the most helpful, sometimes even more so than Nathan and Evelyn. She works alongside Sienna the majority of the time, the two of them almost like partners in crime, and despite the conflicts arising in the group she favors Nathan over Caspian, Carressa, and especially Steele, whom she despises. She tends to be very impulsive in adrenaline-pumping situations, and as a result may end up in some sticky and even dangerous situations she sometimes can’t handle by herself, though she will never ever admit to needing anyone else.
Sienna Rivers - 15 - [Reserved for Kiah]
If anyone can handle pain and defeat, it’s Sienna. She can be considered one of the most fearless members of the group, and she can thank her constructed rock-hard shell for this blessing. She hardly displays emotions to anyone other than her friends, but when she does, people realize that she isn’t some scary, intimidating girl who can beat the hell out of people. She is, in fact, rather kind, especially toward Nathan and Arianna, whom she considers her closest friends. She is sturdy and strong, very much like Alana, but shares a mighty weakness with Nathan and Caspian - she is in love with one of the group members. This member being Arianna, one of the bravest and admirable people she has ever met. The only problem is, Arianna is a girl, and only Nathan is aware of Sienna’s homosexuality. She is afraid that if she admits her unrequited love to anyone else, Arianna will find out and be disgusted with her, thus severing their friendship for the rest of eternity. Even Sienna doesn’t know if she can handle such a thing.
This is not first come first served.
