Won't you come see about me,
I'll be alone dancin’, you know it baby,
Tell me your troubles and doubts,
Givin’ me everything inside and out…
Did you ever feel like you wanted to get away from it all? Like there was another world, maybe… hidden in the shadows? There’s been an underground music scene in District Six for some time. People like to speculate it’s because morphling is so big there—as well as some of the other pharmaceuticals readily available to medical district. But that doesn’t fully explain the explosion of the music that’s been born here, much less the thumping warehouse culture that’s developed: even on outdated machines and frazzled speakers, you’ll be hard pressed to find a district that throws a better party outside of the capitol.
Come and wander down past the old and mostly abandoned medical production warehouses—relics of a time when more money flowed into the district. Here they don't all know each other (some of them don't even want to know each other), and yet they try and live the best they can- having fun and believing life is meant to live. In the light of day they’re not much to look at, but at night they sing. If you’re lucky enough to be invited—because not just anyone gets in—you’ll find a world of thumping beats, raucous dancing, and kids discovering there might be more to living than doing the same thing every day.
“Screws fall out all the time, the world is an imperfect place.”
The Players
The Basket Case—Quest Hertz [zorionak] [17]: Born to a relatively normal family—a mother and father that are both nurses, and an older brother—she’d never been the most social girl. Often very upfront with how she thinks of the world, Quest has a difficult time making friends. She is the type of girl that would sit in the back of class and snicker when someone said something she found idiotic. Her single vice is a desire to be noticed—she emulates capitol style as best as she can, but it doesn’t quite look the same. Wilfred took an interest in her, and invited her to join the underground. Now all she thinks about is making music like he does—even if he’s more interested in being with her.
The Athlete—Ethan “Cove” Demilo [open] [16]: The superstar of District Six, Ethan is one of the most talented young men. Handsome, strong, and particularly brave, one wouldn’t peg him for the type to be interested in a seedy underworld like the warehouses. It’s why he disguises himself when he goes to the warehouse parties. There he’s created his own persona: Cove, in an attempt to hide, knowing he wouldn’t be accepted in with his stereotyped “Jock” background.
The Criminal—Wilfred Sournois [open] [18]: King of the scene. Master of ceremonies at each and every party, he says the word as to who and what is acceptable in the warehouses. The maker of music, Wilfred wavers between good and downright dangerous. He believes in living life as though he’s going to die tomorrow—which means taking what he wants, when he wants it. No one knows just where he came from—he doesn’t give a lot about his background to those at the warehouses—but not everyone would guess he comes from money. He’s particularly interested in Quest.
The Princess—Clarice Busset [open] [16]: Nothing is more important to Clarice than knowing what is fashionable—there simply isn’t anything else in her world. The daughter of two more successful citizens of District Six, she would be considered wealthy by District standards. Her knowledge of fashion—of emulating new styles even stranger than what one might see in the capitol—she was a natural for the warehouse scene.
The Brain—Gerhard Nasmyth [open] [16]: The only reason Gerhard was even offered entrance into the warehouses was his natural talents with electronics. If there’s a problem with equipment, he’s the man that gets tapped to solve it. Often in the shadows, he’s been too afraid of screwing up to ever really participate in what’s going down. This has given him access to a world virtually unknown to anyone like Gerhard—a rather shy, bookish young man. He wants to take part in it, even if he doesn’t quite understand how he fits in there.
