Age: 23
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 13
Appearance:
Cora has light brown hair that gleems brighter in the sun. She allows it to grow long, and it is very long, it reaches about a third between her waist and knees. She always keeps it down, for she believe in keeping things natural. She brushes her hair only every few days, as if she did it every day she would spend most of her time indoors. She hates the indoor areas of district 13.Personality:
Her face is a round shape, but her jaw does curve it a bit. Only VERY slightly, but it does. Cora doesn't think she's that pretty, and often hides her face so people don't know who she is.
Cora is short, she is at least 2 inches shorter than all of her peers. She dislikes that feature, and hopes she'll grow out of it. She is very scrawny, and weak as well. She is always trying to get stronger, but it seems to be embedded in her genes, and she pushes herself to fix that. When someone comments on her weakness, she will get very upset.
Cora's knees embarass her as well, they are crooked, and don't sit right on her joints, so she walks with a small limp. The limp is unnoticable, but if her skirt goes up high enough, you'll notice her disfigured knees. She always wears a skirt, as she dislikes the feel of short or pants, and keeps long skirts so her knees don't show. If someone really looks at her though, they'll see her fighting to stay standing up, or struggling to get up. You'll also notice her unneat walk. This is highly unnoticable unless someone pays close attention.
History:
Cora is shy by nature, and is completely unfond of herself. She years for good friends, but can never find the courage to make one. One could say her only friends are her parents, but even they resent her.
Cora's shyness isn't because of anything, it's just the way she is. She doesn't want to trust anyone, because she's afraid they'll be like her parents. She has wanted to be friends with people before, but was so scared she couldn't even get within 5 feet of them. She feels no one loves her, or cares for her. Her mother used to tell her she'd grow up and never find love. She had cried that night. She actually believed it.
Cora doesn't like hurting herself, so she tries to work out. But since she hates the public, she often runs away to the outdoors. She loves nothing more than the outdoors. Where she can roam in peace and quiet. She brings her meals out with her sometimes, and eats there.
Cora wishes she was like every one else. She doesn't like being a cripple. Of course, no one would like that, but she goes a bit extreme, yelling at the skies to fix her. She does have a few good qualities though.
Inside, she isn't a paranoid loner. Inside, she really is a sweet, kind, caring person. It's just never had a chance to show it's self. She wants to show it, but can't, since no one is her friend.
Cora was born to Paul and Malmie Braschi, unwanted. Her parents "did it" and accidently had her. They tried for abortion, but Cora's grandmother forbid it. Her grandmother, of all people, wwas the only one that actaually cared about her. For three years, her grandmother took care of her, but then she died. Cora was devistated that her gramma was gone. She cried for nights, until her dad finally shut her up with a smack on the mouth.Codeword: oDair
Cora lived that way for five years, not realizing how terible her parents really were. Getting drunk every night, treating her like furniture. A matter of fact, one night, when her mother was particularly drunk, she sat on 4-year-old Cora. Cora had screamed then, but not been rescued. Everyone knew about her knees back then, and always knew about them to. No one thought she'd amount to anything.
When Cora turned six, she began to hide from her parents. Some of her hiding places were the cabinet under the sink, in a closet of the cafeteria, and in a mop closet on one of the lower floors. She would bring her food there and eat in silence.
Cora tried making friends, but for some reason, people always walked away quickly from her. She was confused until one day when she was 9, and people began openly joking about her knees. She immediatly threew on a longer skirt and tried to cover her limp. It worked, and she hid it well, but everyone knew about her, and didn't want to befriend her. They thought she would ask for special treatment because she was crippled.
When Cora turned 10, she went outside for the first time. That was when she decided it was where she wanted to be. Every day, she pulled her food up to higher ground, and sat outside. It wasn't very pretty out there, but the fresh air felt good.
At age 14, her mother dragged her down to their room by the hair and demanded to know what she did. When Cora repeatedly answered "nothing" she began to insult Cora.
She said hurtful things like how Cora was a sick loner, how she'd never find love, and how she was ugly. When her mother went into detail Cora gave up defending herself and listened. It absorbed into her brain. She had more bad ways to think of herself.
Bye the time Cora turned 18, she was anxious to leave her dreadful home. She packed her clothes and left the room, to go to her own. She settled in and lived there. She stayed the person she had always been, but now that she had to work, she had to be around people. The insult turned her life into a living dungeon, and her time outside had to be cut down.
When she turned 21, she finally got a lighter schedule. She had most days to herself, for since she had worked hard, she was given a better job. She still made a low salery, but didn't have to push herself too much. She began to live outdoors again. She inhaled the earth, and practiced her walking. She couldn't hide it any more than she already had, so she just gave up.
At the current age of 22, she has begun to yearn for a friend, a love, and a real family. A family, and friends, that would support her, that would cheer for her.
That would love her.
