Appearance: Joel Hadley stands roughly five foot eight inches tall and weighs roughly one hundred seventy-five pounds. Joel’s hair is light brown with more hair on the top than the sides. The hair on the top is puffier. His hair is usually brushed back with a comb. The top is sometimes a greasy mess. He’s got a nice little tan going on from being out in the sun all the time. He has some muscles, but he’s built for speed over strength. Most would see him as a person who doesn’t care what he looks like. His clothes don’t look kept at all.

His head is round with the ears that are slightly larger than most. His face is rough and tan from being outside. His face is usually cleanly shaved depending on his mood. His eyebrows are slightly bushy over his eyes deep set eyes. His eyes are angular, tiny, and blue. He has some dark circles running under his eyes from lack of sleep. He has a small nose that sits almost perfectly in the center of his face. His lips almost hardly ever form a smile. He keeps a very straight face. His voice is deeper than most would expect. It’s almost scary.

His neck is short and thin coming down to his shoulders which sit square with his feet. His collarbones are noticeable but that doesn’t care. He doesn’t have these huge chest muscles that most women go for. He doesn’t have much hair on his chest either. His arms are slightly muscular from working on the farm all the time, but not big and buff. His ribs can be counted along the side of his torso from the lack of food he has. His back bone is visible when he walks around shirtless. He has a farmers tan from wearing short sleeve shirts all the time. His arms right below his elbow is darker than his upper arms and torso. His hands are extremely hairy with long fingers.

His legs are stronger than the rest of his body. He’s always walking or running trying to keep the animals he raises in the fenced areas. His thighs are buff from all the working. He never will be seen wearing shorts because he considers his legs ugly. They are paper white from never seeing the sun. His knees look strange underneath his buffed thighs. His calf muscles are nice and formed and shape. His ankles aren’t in the best of shape from being broken so many times. His left ankle is turned outward, but his right ankle is turned inward. His feet are hobbit feet. They are smaller than the rest of his body, and they are extremely hairy.

Personality: Joel is really an outspoken person. He’s not afraid to speak his mind. He always stands up for what he believes is right even if it goes against the majority of the crowd. He doesn’t care what other people think of him because of it. He does a lot of things in quiet. He doesn’t want others to figure out what he’s doing. He doesn’t like talking to people. He’s not shy or anything, but starting conversations with people isn’t his strong point. He tries not to lie to people because it goes against what he believes is right. He does have a short temper that isn’t a pleasant site when his temper is set off.

He’s used to being called trash, scum, dirt, disgrace, ruthless, and many other names. He is hated by so many people. They hate him because he isn’t afraid to speak his mind. Because of him not being afraid to speak his mind, he’s an outcast by many. Nobody wants to be friends with an outcast. Others look at him and want to run away. He’s used to people walking up to him and turning around and going the other way. He doesn’t want to be friends with people anyone. He has all he needs and that’s just himself. He’s a poor farmer that doesn’t care about others. This is what everyone thinks.

His family considers him an outcast as well. He’s always getting in trouble for something, so his family wants nothing to do with him. His mother hates him because he’s always running his mouth towards her trying to always show her when she’s done something that’s wrong. His father doesn’t want anything to do with him, but he still allows him to help. His family calls him a brat and ruthless. They hate being seen with him. He can always be seen with his siblings. His siblings love him no matter what even if he does speak his mind for what he thinks is right. His family doesn’t like him always being right. Joel knows he isn’t always right, but he knows what he believes is right. He will speak out against anyone trying to go against this which his family almost always does.

He has two friends he’s almost always seen with. They believe in him unlike the rest of his family, and they trust him no matter what. They consider him as some kind of leader that’s holding them together. Joel trusts them as well. He’s happy to have them as friends. They always get in trouble together, and they are hard to separate. His friends are basically his family as his family hates them. They all dress the similar and always treat each other with respect. He’s not afraid to be around them as they are exactly like him. They all stand up for what they believe is right. He will always be loyal to them by standing by their sides.

History: Joel was born to teen parents Amos Hadley eighteen, and Lillian Romal sixteen. Amos and Lillian weren’t even dating at the time. This all happened in a one night stand. Lillian was forced by her parents to marry Amos after Joel’s birth becoming Mr. and Mrs. Amos Hadley. Amos and Lillian were given a farm house that Lillian’s father, Matthias, owned. Lillian inherited a few farm animals from Matthias, and he raised them and bred them to get more animals. Four years after the marriage, Amos and Lillian gave birth to another son, Nolan. His parents loved Nolan a lot because he was born after they became married. They were ready to be parents, but they were upset that Nolan wasn’t their first born. Joel became angry when he saw his parents always with Nolan and never talking to him. They never gave him anything except food. His clothes became torn and ragged.

Two years later, his parents gave birth to his younger sister, Tatiana. His parents became more in love as their hate towards Joel grew more. They love Tatiana. They started growing together as a family, but they pushed Joel away. Amos started forcing him to work on the farm. Joel would spend every day light hour after school feeding the animals. He started loving animals particularly his pig. He named his pig Chad. He would always look forward to running home after school to feed his pig. He kept is a secret though. He didn’t want his father to know that he loves this pig. One day his father knew he loved the pig, and he killed it in front of Joel. Joel was furious. He loved this pig more than his own parents. He cried in front of his father, but his father told him men don’t cry. He told his father he hated him and never wanted anything to do with him. He never named any other animal after that.

A year later, his youngest sister, Belva, was born. His parents gave what little room Joel had to Belva. Joel didn’t care though. He was in school and he started making friends. He made a couple friends that he knew he would always be friends with. Mario and Josef are the same age as him. He started bringing them home to help him on the farm. His father paid them a small sum to work, but it wasn’t enough for much of anything. When Joel turned ten, Amos walked away from the family. He told Lillian he wanted nothing to do with them anymore especially Joel. Joel never understood what he did to his parents, but he was happy to see Amos leaving. Joel worked on the farm every hour he was home. He made sure the animals were growing so they could be butchered. With the help of Mario and Josef they would carry animals to the butcher.

Joel, Mario, and Josef became impossible to separate. Joel doesn’t like people that go against what he believes is right. He believes everyone should be treated with respect. The more they started hanging out, the more outspoken they all became. They stood up for what they wanted to. They weren’t afraid to go against any crowd. They also started getting into trouble a lot. One day they were stalking a peacekeeper. He dropped a pack of cigarettes on the ground. Mario took them and they started smoking them. They always made sure they were away from everyone else. On Joel’s sixteenth birthday, Josef and Mario bought Joel another pig. This gift to Joel was the best gift he could have ever gotten. His life was going well until Amos moved back in with his mother again.
