Blueberry Xena Rize
"Get off the counter," Blue says to her little sister, Nettie. She was growing up fast, and already reached her shoulder. She'd finally figured out how to talk back, which was utterly unacceptable. Blue wonders if that was what being a mother was like. Perhaps, in a sense, she was a bit of a mother. She watched Nettie all the time, taught her, kicked her out of bed to close the door. Well that last part was more sisterly. Out of routine, she pries her sister off the counter and sets her on the ground, then grabs her bag and opens the door. "You coming?"
"No, Ingrid wants to show me some tricks," Nettie says in her most innocent voice. I know she is hiding something, but I ignore it. She needed some trouble everyone once in a while, for she usually just ran away from everything. As Blue shuts the door and begins walking towards the square, she shifts through her things. Book, knife, some cherries, a stone Nettie painted and gave to her. Hm, might come in handy. That girl was clever without even knowing it.
A few people are pushed out of the way as she makes her way through the crowd, fighting against the other careers intent on being the first out of the bustle. When she finally breaks through, she takes a deep breath, inhaling the less clumped air. Walking, walking, walking, as long as it takes to reach the other side, to the grocer. She was in need of some of that very sticky tape, or if possible, wood glue. One of the table legs snapped, and was in need of repair.
Walking into the store, she grabs the first bottle of wood glue she sees, then turns around to pay the man. As she walks out of the store, she notices a familiar looking head. For a few seconds she simply glances a few times, then eventually stares. Blue's stare could be very scary, if seen close up, but from a distance it only looked minorly stalker-ish. Finally, she progresses to moving closer until it comes to her.
"What a surprise this is," she says, "My boyfriend has finally decided to exist." An edge of irritation slips into her voice as she remembers the title given shortly after leaving the forest. Hadn't she seen him with some other girl, only a few weeks ago?
