there's a sick little suicide in all that we do
you decide, which one's for you?
He wasn't sure if it was the blood loss or if the Gamemakers had decided to give him a break, but it was getting decidedly darker the further Asunder scrambled through the brush and vines. He was fairly certain the day could not have passed him by that quickly, even with all the fighting at the scary tree. But then, he hadn't really been present for most of it. He had frozen, despite having fire at his fingertips, and simply stood back and watched until he loosed that fatal arrow. He hadn't even been aiming, not the way he had in the Bloodbath and when they had taken on other alliances. He had just finally remembered himself and his aching fingers, and let go.
From faraway, it hadn't even seemed like he had hit the raven-haired boy. But apparently he had. It felt as though that was the reason he was now running. He couldn't make heads nor tails of it, though. What loyalty did Pyrian have to a boy they hadn't seen since the Training Center? Had he missed something so obvious? Or was there something else - a new threat and he had simply gotten in the way? He considered slowly down, trying to talk to Pyrian. But then, it wouldn't really be a conversation. It would be Asunder begging and Pyrian would have every advantage.
No, the only thing to do was run.
All around him the trellis loomed, imposing and eternal. He no longer had any idea how he'd gotten into the garden, or how he would find his way out. Maybe there was only one exit. The thought made him whimper even as he stabbed at the vines, trying to find a shadow or a doorway. Instead, he dug himself deeper and deeper until the trellis became a cross and he the martyr. He twisted and struggled for a moment before finally resting his bloodied cheek against the dead foliage. A bright flower, the color of the sun, bent to have a closer look at him. "Leave me alone," he huffed and then realized his mistake.
