Age: Sixteen
Gender: Male
District/Area: District 13
Appearance:
Malcolm is not, by Capitol standards, strictly speaking "attractive," but then again who really is? As is par for the course in his district, Malcolm skin is almost supernaturally pale, like he has never seen the sun a day in his life (he has, but he, like the rest of his district, live the majority of their lives underground.) He stands at an imposing 6'4 and weighs about one-hundred and seventy-five pounds (BMI 22.5,) even at his young age of sixteen. It his large and intimidating appearance (especially for one so young,) that gives him the air of unspoken authority he seems to carry around with him. He gives off an implacable aura of silent authority which makes him ideal for commanding his fellow soldiers.Personality:
Malcolm is not a handsome fellow, possessing a long, pointed nose, hair which is so red it seems the color of fire, and disconcerting bright, light green eyes that just have the vaguest feeling of being in some way "supernatural." His body is stout, built, sturdy, and incredibly strong, more akin to a machine of industry than a thing of beauty. And yet for a man his size, he is most certainly far faster than he has any right to be, possessing unnerving twitch reflexes and preternatural agility that seems to defy the laws of physics themselves. His bushy, fire orange monobrow, his bulging muscles, his stoic exterior, the intangible feeling of malevolence, Malcolm, in essence, looks like a super-soldier you would do well not to get on the wrong side of. As for the validity of that statement, well, if you see Malcolm in a fight, pray to god he is on your side.
To say Malcolm is quiet would be quite an understatement, as indeed, he NEVER speaks unless he finds there is a very compelling reason to. This is actually an extension of the military training he has received practically since birth (training which I might add is also hauntingly familiar to that which career tributes go through,) never speak unless spoken to. Stoic, calm, distant, cold, unreadable, combined with his terrifying appearance, makes Malcolm a truly scary and unnerving person to be around. Behind that ice cold, unnatural green gaze of his, you always seem to get the feeling their is something vaguely sinister going on behind them, but can never quite really be certain. Malcolm is a cipher, but absolutely not the kind that seems all too appealing to unravel.History:
Some say there are two things that make a person who they are, nature, who they are innately, and nurture, who they are taught to be by the world they live in. Malcolm, at his very core, is a soldier, and his entire life and identity have long since been established around that single fact. He, and all District Thirteen citizens for that, or trained from birth to kill, to give unyielding loyalty to their district, to give their very beings over to the cause of one day bringing to Capitol to it's knees and avenging the day the glimmering toxic missiles ravaged what once was their home. Malcolm's entire life has revolved around training for the day when that ideal would see fruition, that District Thirteen would once again lead the the districts in glorious rebellion against their oppressive, bloodthirsty, self-centered rulers in the Capitol.
But Malcolm is smart enough to be his own man, to have his own ideals, his own principals, his own dreams, and he has long since figured out that his interests and the interests of his district may not be one and the same...
Like a career tribute, Malcolm has endured grueling, agonizing, lonely years of training to be honed into the perfect killing machine. Even in a district filled with others like him, Malcolm stands out as being exceptional at his job. He is a good soldier, through and through, and since he's never know anything else his entire life, he sees no reason why he should ever stop doing what he does best and loves to do. Aloof, remorseless, intimidating, highly intelligent, physically prime, commanding, highly intuitive and keenly perceptive, Malcolm seems to be the very model of a perfect soldier, but he is in actually simply a perfect warrior. A soldier follows orders, and warrior follows his heart.
As far as family goes, Malcolm has practically no attachment to his parents, having barely known them his entire life. He is, however, exceedingly close with his older sister Penelope, who is also a model soldier within the rebel army. He and his sister endured many of the same things, sometimes together, and even at times against one another, and the two have formed a close fraternal bond. Even as their strictly controlled lives as soldiers in District Thirteen's rebel army keep them apart, they always seem to find time to see each other every now and again. The two are renowned for being incredibly similar in temperament, and despite their differences in appearance, it is not often difficult for people to put together their relation.
One of the few children to be born in the District Thirteen after a dreaded plague left most of it's inhabitants infertile, Malcolm was born the second child of the parents he hardly knows. As is customary in District Thirteen, Malcolm spent most of his life training for the eventual second rebellion against the Capitol, quickly excelling as both a soldier and a leader in his time as a trainee. When he was twelve, he was officially inducted into the rebel army, being promoted to corporal and placed as second in command of his own rebel squad. His older sister Penelope became his mentor, being an older, higher ranking, and more experienced soldier, and Malcolm quickly earned a reputation as an extremely frightening, cold as ice killer who simply could not be stopped. "Except by bullets" as Malcolm often dryly jokes to himself.Codeword: Odair
Malcolm's life is, in general, much like everyone else's life in District Thirteen, closely monitored and controlled. regulated almost down to the millisecond. While Malcolm is known for being cold and unreadable, he is deep down inside actual quite contemptuous of the way the district micromanages it's citizens every action. And while he may be the "ideal soldier" of District Thirteen, he is often quite doubtful of the overall benevolence of his district's leadership. The Capitol is some far away land he's only seen second hand, something he's been taught to hate, but District Thirteen is the devil he knows. Often Malcolm wonders to his horror whether or not District Thirteen is really much better than the Capitol when you got right down to it...
As he is today, Malcolm is cold, calculating, unfeeling career soldier who is patiently awaiting the rebellion which was predetermined as the quintessential moment in his lifetime. It's the event his entire life has been leading up to, all the training, all the heartache, all the pain, it has all lead to this. The leadership of District Thirteen portray it as being the glorious day the districts take back their freedom and shake off the yolk of Capitol rule, but Malcolm, deep in his heart, knows better. What his life has been building up to, it's crescendo, this rebellion, it will be a horror like nothing the games could ever display can possibly compare with. The games, they're just the prelude...
...the real nightmare has yet to begin...
