Anthem - Day 7

Just think – if you win, not only do you maybe have the honor of carrying home a few tokens, but the Gamemakers have made sure that any prospective victor will also be wearing a not-so-stylish, even hellish sunburn to victory. You wonder why they couldn’t just cool things down a bit, you are dying, but everyone and their dead grandmother knows that the Gamemakers are out there somewhere, soaking in the pained expressions on your faces like you soak in the sun’s rays.

But somehow, for a little while as the sun sets and the sky turns pink, you can ignore the pain. Your mind is elsewhere, thinking about how quickly the steady pattern of slow death was shattered by the events in the Feast. That is how quickly some things can happen. And you know, even before the anthem begins to play its terrifying tune, that many have died today.

And you wonder if you might be next.
